I saw your Rena/Lena Sayers costumes on google images while looking up reference points and I can't help but be insanely and inexplicably floored and jealous. You are amazing! I was hoping you'd have a picture of her back, because for the life of me, I can't decide if the white triangle in the back is over the blue dress, under it or part of it. Or how the bow fits in.
I'm curious about whether you do commissions across countries? I think I read right that you're in Taiwan. I honestly don't think I could ever hope to muddle through a costume and make it anywhere as beautiful as you've made Rena's.
I love your Shinku by the way. I prefer a Suiseiseki myself <3

Sorry, I have been neglecting here for a while. Thank you for the so very sweet comment though!! It made my day! Your right! The back reference photo is impossible to find. Took me a long time to find one too. It is actually two layers with blue on top of white. I made two individual layers and then topstitch the blue to the white at the back till before the shoulders. This image is the only clear one I could ever find. [link] I made the bow separately, and use giant snap ons.
Yes, I'm currently living in Taiwan now. It is very flattering, but I don't do commission over seas as I like to fit the costumes myself. So Sorry.

It's alright, but thank you for replying!
I see now, it's like a blue over-dress on top of a blouse, and the front is just a white panel.
I'm hoping that someday I can cosplay her and hope to do it as well as you! I'm currently obsessed with Yuki Kaname and her gigantic scythe, more so because I'm more orientated towards making objects and not so much sewing (but maybe I'll get over it someday and just sit down and learn o.o!)

Yes, exactly that. I'll look forward to it when you do. Sewing does take some patience, well, a lot. But I'm terrible at prop making, so I envy people who can.

Well maybe after Sakura-Con, I'll be able to take some classes. I'm more or less resigning myself to the fact that I need to learn because a lot of stores don't carry clothes in my size.

???? don't carry clothes in my size?? You seem pretty standard size? or am I wrong

TakimiRyumi In reply to KrishCreate [2012-03-29 01:10:07 +0000 UTC]
I'm pretty tiny, most clothes run larger here in America. It takes some special hunting to find 'extra-smalls' or brands that run smaller in their sizes.
I see it all the time in the department store I work in, when we get freight in, if there's 10 items of one thing, there will be 1 small, 2 mediums, 5 larges and 7 extra large. Companies cater to the fact that on average, Americans are getting "larger" so they send us clothes that reflect that.

That's funny when I used to live in the states, I barely can find any small size that fit me in the beginning. (Used to be an active cosplayer in Arizona) But later on I noticed that store start carrying my sizes. I guess things have changed the past 3 years? Actually a good friend of mine suggested that I could try out the kids section, since she is tiny herself, as the kids section are pretty much a smaller version of what's in fashion. It did worked out and they are cheaper too. XD

TakimiRyumi In reply to KrishCreate [2012-03-30 02:16:28 +0000 UTC]
My problem is that while kid's section could fit me, I end up looking 13-14. I'm turning 21 this year and it's hard enough getting people to take me seriously when you're 4'10" and skinny as a stick and you look like you're still 16.
I'm hoping some store out of no where will magically appear and cater to small people wishing to dress their age. xD

KrishCreate In reply to TakimiRyumi [2012-03-30 07:43:47 +0000 UTC]
That is true. Wow, I can understand now. I'm 5'4", and I can at least fit in to extra small in the states. I would see being 4'10 would totally be a problem there. Maybe you should come have a shopping trip in Asia, they would totally have your size here. [link] Shop like this probably would have something that fit you. They usually have one standard size fits all, and the shoulder length the sell is about 12.5 inch across and I'm about 15 inch across. I guess that make me kinda of a giant one here. XD

Yeah, I'm kind of absurdly tiny. The girls at work find it amusing and like to compare how small my hands are to theirs.
On the other hand, having stopped growing at 13-14 years of age, I ended up only replacing my clothes after literally wearing holes in them.

You are so welcome. I really love the feeling that your picture of Lydia gave off. I like what you said "A drawing means nothing if it wasn't drawn with a good (or bad) spirit." Because I have been struggling a bit with drawing myself now. Thank you so much about liking my costumes too!

Thank you so much! Making cosplay costume seem to be a dying art too these days huh?! I miss the old days(which was not too long ago), but like still happy to meet people who still take pride in making their own like you too.

Woah! It's a nice surprise to hear from you! Do make me miss the cosplay scene in Arizona a bit! I was just thinking the other day that how amazing your Juri hair was when I was doing mind. Funny huh?! I moved to DA because I was too lazy to maintain a site anymore and of course I don't mind you watch me at all. Hope you don't mind me watch you back either!
