For that, I would say to create two layers, the first one, at least, should be transparent. Take the object (for instance, a square)and put that on the layer on top. (The layer that you put the square on should be completely empty, WITHOUT white on it--- be very careful of that. If it has white on the same layer, it'll be more difficult. If you do happen to have it on the same layer, then just use the eraser to clear the area around the square.) Then copy the square/object and go to and go to the bar that says colors, and then "Brigtness- contrast". Then, set both brightness and contrast to -127. Remember, this square goes on the bottom layer. You can use the dodge/burn tool to make this darker for the shadow, if you feel the need.
If the edges are too sharp, use the color picker tool, select the color, then use the airbrush to soften the lines.

It's okay. You can always add in Zachariah or some other angels for conflict. As far as other people, add in characters from other TV shows and just make fun of them. Maybe people that disgust Castiel (The Jersey Shore) or something goofy like "My Little Ponies: Friendship is Magic".
As far as something dramatic, make Castiel fall in love with another angel or human.

That may be slightly traumatizing. We just buried my pets in the backyard, but at one point, we didn't know where we had buried them, so we had to start paying careful attention to where they were and which tree they were under.
