Question mr man!
How does it feel to be doing something you used to do as a hobby as a job?
Does it ruin it a little for you?
I've noticed little to no 3d stuff come out of you since you started working.. just that you're too busy for it?
Or does doing it all day put you off doing it when you get home?
Just curious, im about to make a similar move.. not 3D, but i do intend to turn a hobby of mine into something more joblike.

You're the first person to directly ask me that while noticing no work has come from me in a year.
You're right, at first, for the first 6 months I thought my hobby as my job ruled, and it did, because I knew what I was doing and loved it. But it really strains you in the long run, because when you go home the last thing you want to do anymore is your job. In the long run that's really abd for you because, well, think about all that time you would have spent your mind on your hobby, what will it do instead? It'll get distracted, anxious, annoyed and irritable.
But the only way to know is to try. Try it, and if you notice it starts to wear on you, quit, easy as that.

It's always been something I was a bit curious about.
Trouble is, if i spend all my time getting degrees and the like to do what i basically do as a hobby now and then it really gets to me that my free time is then dominated by a complete lack of things to do what can i fall back on?
I dont know if the trade off would be worth it, i'd get my hobby back.. but i'd have wasted thousands on education and i'd be back to stacking shelves.
Toss of a coin I guess, just have to see how it goes.

Yeah its really one of those things that you gotta find out for yourself.
Me for example, went a whole year doing hobby-job but now I'm finding the best solution to the problem for me, is to make it so that my hobby is literrally my own job, not just a job I do for others. Hence the reason to start the game studio, because in my free time I would have been working on the game anyway, but now I'm gonna turn my free time into a money maker, instead of the hobby itself.

Hopefully i'll be able to do something similar should the need arise.
I'm not sure how thrilled i'm going to be with making what other people tell me to do forever.. even if it pays well.
haha, I guess it's really like an extra level of torture.

Hope the game studio works out well for you, even if its not amazingly profitable hopefully you wont mind because you'll be back to doing what you love.
