Favorite visual artist: H.R. Giger, shocking I know for a bubblegum princess like myself. My life has been relentless discomfort, and I think Giger captures that cruel god angle to designing his monsters.Favorite movies: My dad saw A New Hope on opening night, and I have long since inherited his love of Star Wars. He's an original trilogy kind of guy though, while my pretentious drama queen ass adores all things Clone Wars. I actually unironically LIKE Phantom Menace.
Favorite TV shows: I'm an unironic Ben 10 fanatic. Ben 10 is my favorite show. I hate Ben 10, and only real fans of the best worst show ever made will appreciate that. Doctor Who meanwhile is something I can watch forever. It's a pacifist's bible. Favorite is Capaldi.
Favorite bands / musical artists: My dad is your average plucky 80s movie protagonist who's been playing guitar for as long as he could hold one. I grew up in his sound studio, and I inherited an appreciation for the best of his generation. Musical theater is the way into my skirts tho.
Favorite books: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was the first book they made us read in school that I felt like I HAD to own a personal copy of. I experienced a lot of medical abuse and gaslighting as a child, and this book cracked that shell.
Favorite games: I'm extremely autistic and I love Minecraft, I just never get any of my builds done because I like exploring accurate historical landmarks which only I can see. I'm still angry they dropped VR support.
Favorite gaming platform: I'm a PlayStation girl. The games I wanted to play when I was a stupid teenager got more DLCs on a PS3, so that's what I asked my parents for, and it's what I've stuck to.
Tools of the Trade: I just sorta... never outgrew Crayola pencils on printer paper. Idk when I was a teenager and stupid I was kinda self conscious about it, but now it's just sorta my medium and I dig it. It works and its cheap.
Other Interests: I'm a shockingly religious gal for such an uptight scientist. I personally identify as a reconstructionist Heathen. I started with the premise of "what if ALL religions are true?" and its been frustratingly cohesive. Ask me about my theological thesis.

So....I know it been a long while, but...your current thoughts on Odyssey and Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered?

Eyyy good to see you again
And honestly, this is the first time I don't really want to buy a new game in the series Like, normally I run off the "don't knock it until you try it" philosophy, but with how much gimmicky marketing they're focusing on instead of the game itself, and all the massive detours they're taking with the series status quo, they don't give it a good vibe. I mean adding a remaster of a great game into the season pass of the new game like a couple weeks before it gets released, that just smells like desperation XD But hey, I'm willing to play devil's advocate still. The isu city of Atlantis and meeting Darius sound like pretty interesting topics to explore if they pull them off right

I am very much happy for AC: O. I love Ancient Greece, I love Mythology, and I love exploring your choices and exploring 'order vs true freedom'. But I understand where you coming from.
As for the remaster...this is my feelings...

I feel that. I guess I just worry that they won't pull it off very well. Like the whole thing just feels like some drawing room gimmick they tossed out early because of how much praise Origins was getting. Guess we'll just have to see lol
And XD

I think that is the biggest issue is Odyssey is coming right on the heels of Origins. (And going back almost on the whole 'We're not doing yearly releases, we're going to focus more on each game.') If Odyssey can be just as good, or even better then Origins, maybe Ubisoft is getting it right again. (Also love how they working on Pieces of Eden and Mythology. Almost 'back to basis'.)
Still a lot of issues to solve. (The whole Juno arc ending not with a bang but a whimper, and really made pointless.)
I know AC1 has aged badly, but I feel like they dancing around it, unwilling to put in so much work into Assassin's Creed 1 that would blow everyone away.

That is one of the big things I actually am looking forward to is the deep exploration of isu stuff. I just hope they actually explore it instead of just making a whole bunch of throw away mcguffins XD
And yeah, we have a whole rant about that whimper of an arch ending on one of the podcast episodes XD

I think what AC should be doing (Which I think Origins has started.) is 'back to bases' with the storyline. More focus of Assassins, and Templar, their views and morality. More on history and how we play in the course of events for better, or for worse. Have the Isu be powerful and mysterious.
And if you meet one, anything, BUT the way Juno turn out. I would like to meet a nice(ish) Isu. (One that had a point, and not in all the off screen stuff.
AC been all over the place and this would help put our feet back on the ground and tie up loose ties that been there since AC: 3. (And more.)

Honestly, I'm kinda relieved the Juno arch is finally over, even if the ending wasn't satisfying in the least XD Like at least it's just done now and they can finally just put the mess of plotlines they shattered into after Desmond died to bed. I just hope they stick to a simple linear adventure for this next arch lol.

Pretty much. I think you even said they didn't know where to go after AC 3 and now we are finally seeing the end of that.

Avapithecus In reply to Historyman14 [2018-09-26 04:02:42 +0000 UTC]
Eeyup. Still kinda tragic though They made it sound like they were building up to this big apocalyptic climax fighting against Juno after she gained an ultimate power that could only be stopped by the combined forces of the Assassins and Templars
But instead all we get is "Quick Juno. Die." XD

Historyman14 In reply to Avapithecus [2018-09-26 13:37:26 +0000 UTC]
I think that sums it up. With Black Flag, we had high hopes for the Juno Arc. But then came Unity....
By the time of Syndicate (Which playing as Jack the Ripper was nice and very different.) there was 'still' doing it, but the whole Sage element got push into DLC land and Juno herself was push off screen and forgotten about.
With Odyssey, i kinda hope we met Mars/Ares.

I'm really excited to see what they do with Atlantis. Based on what I've seen, it sounds like it's going to be an entire isu city to explore, a literal dive into something entirely from their world. I actually might buy it just for that XD

If it can live up to Atlantis The Lost Empire, it would be even more amazing. To see more of Isu society, who where they really?

That's... honestly a terrible idea imo XD The modern day is the only thing able to keep all this jumble of lore together. Yeah, it's a mess now ever since they got rid of Desmond, but that' why Layla was brought in after the Juno arch was nipped in the bud. Part of the allure of the series was using the Animus to explore all these worlds so that it could all tie back to the modern goal of saving the world from a big threat. If you just take out the modern day entirely, there's no point to the history stuff anymore. No unifying thread. It'd just be a jumbled mass of disconnected stories.

Historyman14 In reply to Avapithecus [2018-10-04 01:02:01 +0000 UTC]
I remember everyone was jumping up and down at the possibility of Origins not having the Animus in part of the lack of main modern day characters. (All being First Person faceless people.)
Given the fact Watch Dogs and AC are in a share Unvierse now for real, maybe take a page from it for the Modern Day. (I mean, you play as Desmond a bit, such as in AC: 3 recovering batteries and then saving his dad and Layla got some action, little it was, in Origins.)
The Animus is the bridge between history and modern day, that I get. They really should have given more to the Modern Day I think is a issue.

Avapithecus In reply to Historyman14 [2018-10-04 02:02:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah the modern day has a lot of potential that they never quite use I always do my best to find the balance between modern and history in my stories

I have this character request for a game you might not have heard of.
It's called Empire Earth, an RTS that lets you advance through the ages.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz2_Mu…
Four Campaigns show events from History and one even goes into the "Future".
Greek- Starts with the prehistoric tribes emigrating to Greece, goes through the Trojan War and ends with Alexander the Greats triumph in West Asia.
English- First missions has us help William the Conquer take back his birthright and invade England. Then it's the Hundred Years war, the final mission is at Waterloo against Napoleon.
German- Starts with WWI and Manfred Von Richtofan, ends with a alternate history success if Operation Sea Lion. The Invasion of Britain.
Russia- (My favorite campaign as it's the only that's wholly original and Sci Fi)
Young political dissonant Grigor Stoyanovich leads a successful take over of Russia and expands it's borders over several decades as: Novaya Russia.
As he grows old and finds he his unable to produce an heir, he instead entrusts his nation to his robot bodyguard naming him Grigor II, to the outrage of his political allies who plot against him. A young soldier, Lt Sergei Molotov warns them of the coup and helps to subdue it, but as it is crushed Grigor's health fails him and dies soon after. Molotov and Grigor II continue his dream of creating a global state, though as the years past Molotov begins to have doubts about his robotic commander.
If you haven't guessed the request involves the characters of the last one.
How could it not when it's Campaign screen is this:
Empire Earth - Novaya Russia

For character reference sheets, it's 15 dollars. For full drawings, it's 20, plus an extra 5 for every extra character added in

If I get that much disposable cash I'll let you know.
For now here's the two Empire Earth characters I'd like reference sheets for, just for... reference.
For you to check out and see what I have in mind.
