In short, yes. I charge $15 an hour and this is at least a 70+ hour job for a fully tailored coat with all of the embroidery.

I am open to negotiations, However.

Thanks very much! Rorschach was really fun to build, but I'd imagine that the leatherwork on a Comedian would be a great challenge.

Hello, I really love your work and I was wondering if you can do a huge favor for me. Can you explain step by step how to make a mask like one of your red death masks. Im planning on hosting a masquerade for my bday and I wanted to use a red death mask. youd be doing me a huge favor and i greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Opergeist In reply to dsadams101 [2010-02-19 01:03:14 +0000 UTC]

Sorry that this is so late, but if it is still applicable, I hope this helps:

1. Begin with a plaster positive of your face.
2. Coat the plaster with a lubricating agent, I suggest vaseline so that you can re-use it later.
3. Sculpt the mask shape that you would like out of modeling clay & cover it too with vaseline.
4. Briefly soak small torn strips of brown butcher paper in wallpaper paste and a little water and apply to the surface of the clay. Let it dry until tacky (about a minute)
5. Repeat for 5 or 6 layers for a decent mask, go up to 10 for something rock hard.
6. After the mache is finished and completely dry, gently pop the mask away from the clay.
7. Sand gently, cut out the eye holes, nostrils and edges of the mask and mache over the edges for a smooth finish.
8. Sand again.
9. If desired, finish off with a layer of spackle which is again sanded.
10. Paint as desired, and coat with sealant.

Opergeist - Your designs/renderings are fantastic art unto themselves.
That you also feature so many of these renderings as executed, is a splendid plus.

I can see why you got into the design program at BU, for you are very talented.

I too love your "Sweeney Todd" stuff. Both the the costume designs, and the portraits are just splendid.

I'll be watching for even more great stuff from you !

Gar.

I don't understand how you're not on my watch list yet, monsieur. I must fix this at once.

In all honesty, your art is fantatic. You have a very unique style and way of making the traditionally drawn pieces really pop off the page, and your costume photographs are wonderful.
