I DM as well.
But I have hardly played for almost 19 years, since our groups fell apart. And its only fun with a likeminded group.
So the edition where I'm an expert is still 2nd (AD&D). I know a bit about the other editions as well, but they have their shortcommings too.
Nowadays there are good tools to play online but I actually prefere to play in person, if possible. (Well, probably not the time for that now)
So no reason to be jealous!

Yeah you need some difference in a group as well - but I always compare it with to going to cinema.
You have to agree on which movie you want to see:
How much magic? High or low fantasy? Hack and slash or more character developement? Commic relieve? Diplomatic missions or dungeon crawl?

Very true! Even if its orginized it can be like that too, but luckily, with enough planning it ussally works out (beside the rare bully/neckbeard. TRUST ME i've heard plenty of those.) It can be kidna tough, espcecially finding enough who want to do aa campaign like that. Luckily theres online forums tro find people now and hopefully in the future someone makes a website where we can find similar intrests, advertise campaigns and look for them too!
