# About me
I have published scholarly articles and a few poems, but now that I'm out of grad school, I'd really love to dedicate more time to enjoying writing poetry and publish a whole collection. I tend to write in a darker style that is different from most contemporary poetry. Critiques welcome!

I'll be looking over your other profile to look for the development there.
darker is part of contemporary, in the right circles. finding the right circles, however...
good to meet you. I like the extended tooth in your avatar

Thank you! I'm going to be moving my last collection over here so some baseline can be established; I've had my other profile since high school and I feel I've matured so much that it didn't fit with where I'm heading now, although I appreciate the journey.
I'm having a hard time finding the darker circles, and I've been looking for years! I know they exist, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.
Thank you for the watch and I look forward to your comments!

umm... that wasn't a rant. you stayed on topic, and as soon as you left it, for some place else we can both go without issue, you stopped. it just feels like a rant because you are emotionally involved in a topic you have gone on at great length about.
I have a TV, yes. I prefer science and history, and even had news to come through it instead of drivel and pablum to be used like anti-intellectual opiates.
I'll tell you more about my family around me some day, but not on any dA medium, so I can keep my head straight.
and I tended to just memorize entire Pink Floyd albums; or any album I really like for that matter. like Suzanne Vega, Joni Mitchell. lately, I've developed this thing for jazz and blues. jazz starting in the 40's to the mid-late 80's, and the first and 2nd waves of blues.
and...and...
...and this is why it's not a rant. you and I are both angry, but not with each other; more at a 3rd party that we are in agreement is bad.

I will say that I love really bad horror movies or slapstick comedies, though. Sometimes I do like turning off that big brain and just laughing over dumb stuff. I guess I'm weird because I love intellectual debates and discussions and that deeper connection in conversation, but my sense of humor could be categorized under "easily amused," haha. I find things funny that most would consider immature. In a lot of ways, I still love many child-like things. Yet, I'm not immature.
People are complex.
I'm good at memorization too. I wouldn't say I have an eidetic memory, but most things I hear or read, I remember.
I remember a teacher getting upset one time because she felt I knew more about an album and the band that the created the album than a topic she was trying to teach us. I just found it very boring, so I zoned out. She told me, "If you knew as much about this topic as you do music, then maybe you would be a good student!" I'm not sure why she would say that, given I was an A student, but you should have seen her face when I aced the test. It was gold.

now now. baiting teachers is bad form. there were a few a bit like me. we took out several teachers. so maybe its just baiting them that is bad form
and i do science fiction instead of slapstick
