Thank you! Well, I was wondering if you could do some stamps on the other personality disorders- Avoidant P/D (yellow), Narcissistic P/D (navy), Dependent P/D (magenta), Schizoid P/D (grey), and Schizotypal P/D (light green). I'm tired of hearing about BPD. It's the only one that is publicized and it's irritating that people aren't aware of the others (I'm a psych major, as well as survivor of a couple things). I don't care what the colors are but I gave suggestions in case you wanted them. I have, um, a few more requests but I've already given a bit of a list and I think it'd be rude to ask for more at this point....

You are awesome! I forgot a few- Histrionic P/D (light blue), Antisocial P/D (black), Paranoid P/D (brown), Obsessive-compulsive P/D (white/blk print), and Dissociative Identity Disorder (beige/light brown)
Also- "physical abuse awareness" (orange) and "emotional abuse awareness" (dark red) (I already have a few sexual assault/abuse stamps) and... "emotional abuse survivor" (dark green, white print)

Thank you so much. I put these in my journal in the hopes that some people will be overcome with curiosity and briefly educate themselves.

I'll get on those ones. I knew I'd missed a lot of PDs (i have a list on my forum) but had no idea about colours

I am in awe at how popular my mental illness stamps are.

I'm not, to be honest. There are so many people out there who have or once had these conditions (including myself) but have to hide it because society is not ready to "deal" with it. I know in America, the statistics are astounding.

dimruthien In reply to ArcticLoneWolf [2008-04-04 02:09:40 +0000 UTC]

It's the same in Australia. Something we covered in our orientation to disabilities was that intellectual and physical disabilities aren't as taboo anymore, but the mental illnesses and psychiatric disabilities are very much still swept under the rug. Hardly any education available at all.

I try to educate people where I can- friends, class presentations, etc.

The only reason I've made BPD stamps is because I am Borderline. It wasn't about me publicising it or whatever. In my country no one knows anything about BPD anyway.

I'll make your stamps now and upload them. I don't mind if you want to request more

ArcticLoneWolf In reply to dimruthien [2008-04-03 05:15:07 +0000 UTC]

Oh, really? I'm sorry if I sound flippant about it. I have major depression and social anxiety. There isn't really a public awareness of BPD here but in terms of published material- self-help books and stuff- there is a lot of BPD stuff. Supposedly it's because there isn't enough research on the other P/D to publish anything useful in the way of helping them... but no one is researching them.

I understand where you are coming from. I own an Australian mental health forum and I'm finding it hard to find resources for information stickies and such for some areas.

Well, like I said, I'm majoring in psychology in school and it's frustrating when I find out about things like that. It's not right.

I'm doing disability services, and want to go into either intellectual disabilities or mental health. Haven't decided yet.

Anyway, about to upload the next batch of stamps

I don't know how it works in Australia, but in America no one can pull those records without a court order or your express permission.

And, a majority of clinicians are in the field due to histories of their own. I have an advantage over my peers because I have such intimate knowledge of the therapeutic relationship and process- early practicum, if you will. Things you can't learn out of a book.

Eh, but for me.,.. my scars are pretty visible. I don't cover them at all. I dunno... I think I'm going to be just as happy working with people who have disabilities.

More stamps were uploaded by the way If you have more ideas, let me know!

Ah, well, I have some scars myself. Fortunately, I seem to be pretty resistant to scarring.

wow, you're on top of it today! I was thinking.... Tourette's awareness.... and ADHD awareness... and Synesthesia awareness.... recovering addict.... recovered addict.... I dunno.

Hey, I read the AusRFS forums and wondered why your name seemed familiar. Turns out i've seen you on the darwinites page, too. It's always a small world when people are from Darwin, lol.

woo! I'm going to start breeding fancy rats next year Since feeders are the only rats you can get up here

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ex-arte In reply to dimruthien [2008-03-17 08:20:01 +0000 UTC]

yeah, i didn't think there was much of a rat scene up there, lol. We recently had a litter from a bew father and blaze mum, dunno if you saw that thread (posted by clae, i'm his partner). I'm just hanging out for some masked rats, not so much the bews. Do you have any plans on what you're going to breed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dimruthien In reply to ex-arte [2008-03-17 12:15:38 +0000 UTC]

I'd love to get my hands on these so-called pointed rats that AncientMice has found, other than that I really want to get into rexes and silkies. Did you get any blazes in your litter? If you have any left I'd totally be interested in getting a blaze! It's just so hard to get anything interesting up here, and so expensive to ship them. I wasn't aware anyone up here had BEWs or blazes

ex-arte In reply to dimruthien [2008-03-17 12:35:57 +0000 UTC]

Ah, my mistake, i forgot to mention I'm in Sydney, moved here 2 years ago. Sorry! Unfortunately all in our litter are spoken for but i thought others didn't mind freighting interstate? I suppose it is expensive though, regardless... Well, if you put your mind to it, you can be the first real rat breeder in the top end, wayhey!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dimruthien In reply to ex-arte [2008-03-18 05:17:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I hope I get some interest! I doubt Darwin will ever be much of a rat place, but breeding maybe twice a year I should get a little bit of interest!

Freighting is quite expensive unfortunately It's not so bad between the eastern states, but once you want to ship to Darwin the price skyrockets! *fistshakes*
