When it comes to the original Japanese novel adaptation, Ringu. I loved it. It created a creepy atmosphere that had you thinking Sadako was gonna come early. Plus the idea was original and played on something we've all heard once or twice. A legend, a rumour, a scary story. Plus every was a mystery. Who made the tape, who's the girl, where did she come from, why is she doing this. And on top of that, the ending left a few questions unanswered. In short, I loved the original film XD

I'm sure I've seen it, but I only remember a few very very vague parts with lots of Japanese women screaming. XD The American remake was simply fun to watch. Mostly their expressions and reactions to serious, dramatic things. I admit, when it became clear why she was in the hole, why she wanted revenge, it seemed more...real(?) to me and I really enjoyed the movie there afterward.

I didn't like the American remake all that much. It seemed to far off from the Japanese film which didn't go for "In your face scares" and took the time to create a creepy setting, which is something I find a lot in Japanese horror
