Hey 6stringRaven, I know I've told you (and I think I've convinced you for that matter) that I think the story of "InuYasha" is largely based on "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time," but the characters could also have elements of other characters from separate shows and all.
For instance, InuYasha's weapon grows to be larger than himself and he wears those Beads that punish him when he gets out of line. Much like Sun Wukong: The Monkey King from the classic novel "Journey to the West" carries a magic staff to battle that can grow to any length he desires. And Monkey wore a cap around his head that squeezed it subjecting him to great pain when he acted out of line.Β
Another detail about InuYasha I find interesting are his powers outside his sword and his personality. He's a gruff guy that's got an attitude. He has powerful senses especially his nose and ears. he has retractable claws that are strong enough to slash through metal and he can heal relatively fast. Um, can you say "Wolverine?"
Speaking of X-Men and InuYasha, Miroku I think is largely based on Gambit. Both are ladies' men who fight with charged up pieces of paper and they both wield staffs in battle.
