Marvel be damned, now I know which movie I'm most excited for

We're going back to the Moors! She's still morally ambiguous! I get to see my raven again! And I hear talks of desert, jungle and tundra fey, this is basically the Maleficent Cinematic Universe October, baby!

Akernis In reply to Sunjinjo [2019-05-14 13:58:04 +0000 UTC]

That sounds spectacular! Hinting by the trailer it seems she going to get more evil - or at least non-heroic - action, which is an absolute delight. And I can't wait to see our dear raven again as well
If that is true then the world is going to be a lot more exciting and interesting, indeed. Heh,
And the shot of all the flying fairies looks great
Heck, while I doubt it, I'm even interested in seeing if Sleeping Beauty and her prince is on evil's side in this

Sunjinjo In reply to Akernis [2019-05-14 14:06:31 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, it looks like she's going against something more evil by means of wielding her own evil, as she did use that green magic again. I love that it's still in her and Aurora didn't magically turn her completely good.
Hahaa seeing Phillip going shady on her behalf would be hilarious Hopefully they're more than just morality pets. In any case Diaval will be an amorality pet

Akernis In reply to Sunjinjo [2019-05-14 14:11:04 +0000 UTC]

Yes, that is the best part by far. I wonder if this movie is - at least in part - a reaction to how one of the most vocal criticisms of the last one was that she was no longer the villain that the fans had loved from the original movie. I doubt she'll turn true evil like that, but any step in that direction is a win in my books. Especially if she still keeps her loyalty to friends from the last movie while doing it. That is my favourite kind of villains, evil but still has loved ones they care about
It would be so much fun
Most awesome morality pet confirmed. Hope he will still get to play as other awesome beasts, even if Maleficent can fly on her own now.Β

Oh yeah, I see that everywhere too All the more gripes now considering the subtitle of the movie. But I’m okay with moral ambiguity, I agree with you wholeheartedly – especially on the evil and love not being mutually exclusive. Well, I was bound to as a fellow Overlordian
And if he’s not going dark, at least let him be a magical balloon once more!
Yes please. Though I’m having difficulty thinking of something to top β€˜into a dragon’…

Akernis In reply to Sunjinjo [2019-05-14 19:25:44 +0000 UTC]

Our taste are very similar in that regard indeed . I don't mind the ambiguity either (Loki morality for the win ) as long as it doesn't go full out heroic I'm generally good - for our villains, heroes obviously can be amazing for being heroic, as the MCU movies proves with gusto.Β
Yes!
Ah, definitely. Which is why I would have no problem with being dragon scenes from him

I see you're having trouble. You could always have your characters be aware of a boring situation and act accordingly (Minions especially are the perfect cure for this ) Or filter out what really needs to be said and described, and work those things into the future, or rework the circumstances around them in the present. There's always an adventure waiting to happen somewhere that could happen during your chapter and fill up the empty spaces. Perhaps make use of your existing Tower gates.
If you don't agree where the story is steering you in the new arc, you just have to figure out where the root of that direction is and figure out what exactly it is you don't like, and why. Often it's a small thing that's more easily changed than you think. ^^

Akernis In reply to Sunjinjo [2018-12-28 14:25:57 +0000 UTC]

I know logically that it is probably nowhere near as bad as I think it is, but it feels like one big mess. While there is a lot of things that I like about it, the start just feels like one long info-dumb. I'm currently working with giving Kela some of her confidence back and some training in being an Overlady, but the whole arc feels like it is just taking me on a massive side-track away from dealing with the Sacred Light or finding the hives.

Sunjinjo In reply to Akernis [2018-12-28 15:15:21 +0000 UTC]

Well, heh, I think I know exactly how that feels and you know just how it feels to read something that feels like a mess to the author I bet it's not as bad as you think, especially if you've been staring at it for a while already.
I actually also started the new chapter with something that felt like infodumping initially. Then I used that bit as a 'skeleton' and derived a more lively scene from it, with much of the descriptions now turned into dialogue. Tell (by the characters) instead of show (by the narrator), I suppose.
There's nothing wrong with taking a step back from adventuring to focus on the domain (and/or conquered areas) and the goings-on behind the scenes, I always love those chapters (as I love 'coming home'). Slowing down to show off stuff that might be everyday but we rarely get to see is a good thing, and a fun opportunity to describe things you wouldn't otherwise get to. Even if it takes her weeks or months to train, if the enemy can't find her, it's no trouble. Heck, Estell hid away on Maesmaer for months too, because he needed that time. You can't swing a blunt blade, sharpening is vital and important

... touchΓ©
Thanks, I'm probably just seeing all the flaws after staring at it for too long.
I think I will see if I can't smooth out a few of the roughest parts that bother me and then upload it. No reason lock the story just because a chapter or two is being stubborn. And even if I'm not sure where I'm going is the right place to be I can always put that conquest on hold and look to other matters before returning. This is a story for fun afterall, not a publish novel, we're allowed to meander and fuck around until things makes sense again Β

Sunjinjo In reply to Akernis [2018-12-28 18:30:10 +0000 UTC]

As long as you get to the bottom of why you don't like them and adress that, so you feel better about it overall. That's perhaps even more important than actually smoothing things out. Also heck even if it was a published thing, going where the story takes you can end up in great results, no harm there Some Ghibli movies were written while they were made, with many things unplanned beforehand.
