i'd like to ask you a huge favour: could you tell me how to find a mandrake root?

If you are in Europe, particularly around the foothills of the alps, or even down into the Mediterranean you stand a chance. Look for low to the ground wrinkled leaves with small blue five fused petaled flowers with a single stamen (actually a fusion of two) and five fused anthers around it. The calyx will also be five part and fused. I have never seen one myself. Mandragora officinales I think is the latin name. It's DEADLY toxic because of all the Scopolamine in it. My advice, if you need it for some ritual purpose that DOES NOT involve consuming it, have a blast. If you are going to mess around with the actual thing... BEWARE! I once sliced the root of a related plant to take a picture of the tissue layers and accidentally touched my eye. It was dilated for a full week and I had weird head sensations. I would say that a nice big bite of the root would be enough to kill you.

Yes, it makes a good anesthetic if that's all you got. Scopolamine, the active ingredient, causes amnesia of events leading up to being dosed with it(because memory has to be moved into long-term from short term), as well as while it is in the system. Under the influence one has almost no sensations of pain, and absolutely no inhibitions or free will, but almost all their other faculties. In Bogota Columbia where it is extracted from a related plant 2/3 of all kidnappings world wide are reported. A person drugged with scopolamine will tell someone anything they want (like a truth serum) and cooperate with commands like "withdraw $1000 from your account at the ATM." and they will do it with a smile on their face.
