I FIND IT AMUSING PEOPLE CALL IT MANGA TONES HAHAHA IT WAS IMPORTANT LONG BEFORE MANGA REARED ITS UGLY HEAD MY FRIEND. I INK IN PHOTOSHOP OR (ERR MANGA STUDIO HAHAHAH) BUT WHEN IN PHOTOSHOP I MAKE NEW LAYER PAINT IN SOME MEDIUM GREYS WHERE I THINK THEY WOULD MAKE GOOD TONES (LOOSELY AND WITHOUT CAUTION) THEN DUPLICATE FILE DELETE ALL LAYERS IN DUP EXCEPT FOR GREY LAYER CONVERT TO GREYSCALE CONVERT TO BITMAP. IT FLATTENS IMAGE ON DUP AND ASKS WHAT KIND OF BITMAP. SELECT HALFTONE AND SIZE ANGLE AND DOT LINE OR OTHER OK. IT CONVERTS ALL GREY TO DOT (USUALLY 30LPI ANYANGLE) THEN SELECT IT COPY IT PASTE IT BACK INTO OLD NON DUP FILE CHANGE BLENDING MODE TO DARKEN AND ALL WHITE BECOMES TRANSPARENT. HALFTONE (MANGA TONE) IS THERE. DELETE OG GREY LAYER USED TO MAKE THE OG PAINTED GREY AND ADJUST LAYER OPACITY TO DESIRED VALUE. THEN TAKE ERASER WITH UNIQUE BRUSH LOWER BRUSH OPACITY AND ERASE TONE WHERE ITS UNDESIRED... WALLA MANGA TONE IS PRESENT. IT EMULATES THE TONE I USED TO DO TRADITIONALLY. THERE USED TO BE SHEETS OF VARIOUS TONES YOU COULD PURCHASE AND THEY WERE ON STICKY BACK CLEAR PRINTS, INKERS HAVE BEEN USING THEM SINCE COMICS BEGAN. SOME WELL SOME NOT SO WELL... GOOD LUCK IF YOU NEED SOME HELP IM DOWN

i heard about last saturday of month at comic quest creators alliance and figured i would drop in there. looking for something more regular if there is anything.
