Thanks very much for the watch. Your fig painting is amazing- the level of shading and detail you give them is some of the best I've seen. I've been meaning to get into the medium myself, but never find the time.

Frankly, one would have to find a significant amount of time for that (which, I suppose, isn't that much different from whatever other artistic platform to which you are unfamiliar). Been at it for soon 12 years, and I still pale in comparison to some of the great names. But I greatly appreciate feedback. It's one of my biggest motivators.
I like exploring this place, finding people that have their ways of showing imagination, so therefore it seemed logical to follow up on you. Your work is quite varied, so it's not that trivial browsing your pictures. I like that you manage to cover various areas of fantasy, both in the sensual and more 'generic' sense.
I get the feeling that your talent has evolved quite a bit, when I have a look through your pictures?

Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes it has evolved - I've been submitting art here for seven years now, and even my methods of creating art have changed in that time. I still use many of the same subjects - characters created by myself or my husband, mainly for roleplaying games - but the way I portray them is different now. There were a few years where I created very little, but I think the last two years have been good ones for me.
I appreciate the detail you put in your work, by blending colors and including terrain. The amalgam figure you made using the toy cow as a base was impressive, although I'm not familiar with the game that you're playing.

I frankly think that the feeling of artistic evolution is one of the biggest benefits we can hope for. I mean, things always take time. A lot, usually. Maybe that's why it always seems so naive when people ask for advice on how to achieve the same level of skill, but soon back out because it's too demanding. And I'm not even that gifted, as I once said. For that reason, we should actually celebrate whatever tiny step we take.
Are you and/or your husband into RPG's then? As in the classical D&D-style. I once tried out doing drawings, mainly so I could do my own character-portraits instead of bothering my sister everytime. Didn't really work out that well : (

Oh yes, playing classic D&D style RPGs is actually how my husband and I met. We don't get to play with a group often anymore because we have a young child and unusual work schedules, but we still play with just the two of us every weekend. We don't often use a system anymore, and just make up whatever seems fun at the time as we play.
As for the evolution of art, I've tried a lot of different styles, and even those that I don't think have worked out as well for me have taught me something. I browse a lot of tutorials, and even if I don't really care for my art to look anything like what they're teaching, I can usually glean a least a bit of a technique or a new way to use a tool.

That's so awesome. I know a few couples who've met through D&D, the most classical being him as the front-line fighter and her as the healer. And we all know how it goes from there. Not to generalize or anything, just pointing out my favorite clichΓ©. Allow me to say 'respect' to the fact that you still keep on gaming. Attending a child, real-life and the associated responsibility can be a lot of work, which I have seen in several friends who had to put the gaming aside. It's good to see you still take the time to train/nurture your imagination, which I think is just as important as the physical aspect. And frankly, rules are just rules. The basic premise is to have fun. Even if it means throwing the books away.
(and thanks for the watch as well, I was so rude as to not point it out)

Thank you for the watch also. When we met, he was actually the GM, and another friend of mine made me join the game even though I didn't want to (I was already playing another game on a different day of the week). We've done the fighter/healer thing several times since, though. XD We're actually hoping to find a new group to play with in another couple of years when Lydia is a little older and my husband has a more conventional work schedule.

Don't mention it, I love getting inspired from the way other people approach painting. And I really admire some of your work, especially your great talent for feathering. It's something I've wanted to become good at, for quite some time : ) Hoping I might catch some inspiration from you.

Thanks for the fav on my miniature, glad you did like my work!
you have some cool models too, the big one is really original and clever (maybe just not in my tastes hehe), and the units have a great impact as a whole.
ciaoz!
