i have been wondering something. if its not too rude of me, i was wondering what exactly it is that you do with the art. you always give credit to other artists for various pieces of art and they are posted in photo manipulation and that leads me to believe that you find various images that you like and just....splice them together to make something wholly different? or is it that you find photos and then draw them? its been bugging me for a while as i can see that they came from there but at the same time there is something....unique about them all. or maybe I'm just over thinking something as simple as the ABCs XD

No, not rude as I am happy to answer questions just not brave enough to ask them . What I do is photomanipulation, which is as you describe, taking stock photos, which I list in the 'Thank you to the talented stock artists' section. I extract what I want from the stock images and using layers combine them to make the picture I want....this is a very simplified explanation. I use Photoshop filters and basic image adjustments to change colours, brightness and contrast etcetera, may add a gradient map etcetera to bring it closer to what I see in my mind. I usually paint over the images and paint additional things on them using default PS brushes or the amazing brushes available on deviantART. I combine two or three backgrounds using various blending modes, quite often normal then multiply, then screen or varying it by using overlay or soft light. It really depends on the effect I an after. I rarely take notes as each artwork requires different techniques. I am painting more skin, hair and features than when I first started and hope to eventually paint from the beginning using my own sketches. I was able to draw and did porcelain painting and ceramics until a recent accident and major operation. I am hoping that photomanipulation and increasing the amount of painting in each graphic will help me to regain the skills that I have lost. I would not describe what I do as simple as A B or C, I often find it extremely difficult but perhaps this is because I am not as experienced as many of the artists on dA. Hoping this is helpful, if you require more information I will try to help as much as I can.

Thank you very much. I am not too worried because what I am doing now is compensation as long as I can keep improving and adding to the painting. Out of something bad, quite often comes something good - I believe in the power of positive thinking. Another thing I just thought of for you to try is to combine different backgounds using different blending modes, especially skies and fractals. It is amazing what you can come up with I used this technique in the background of 'Look For Me By Moonlight', which I am just going to upload.

Positive thinking is indeed a very powerful thing. when a person is faced with adversity is when they get most creative and come up with the most interesting solutions to problems and are lead down a path that they never would have thought of were they not under pressure. I am like that in that I only do my best work when the pressure is on and otherwise i am just a lazy bum XD
blending models? fractals? XD as i have never even looked at an art program or used it or anything like that since im not an artist i am not sure what those things are lol

I tend to lean to the lazy bum syndrome myself unless it is something I really like doing
If you have Photoshop, on the 'Menu bar', click on 'Window' and make sure that you have the 'Layers' palette visible (or just hit F7. In the layer palette the default is 'normal', click on the down arrow to the right of normal and you will see darken, multiply, color dodge, color etcetera. Even if you don't have Photoshop, these are called blending modes and change the way each layer reacts to the other as you can see in my artwork.
Fractals are art created by mathemeatical algorithms.....don't be put off by this as you don't have to even add 2+2 if you don't want to. I have some in my gallery, Excalibur, Butterfly Dreams, Stressful Day etcetera. There are many free programs that are quite easy to use if you persevere but you have to be interested . Fractint or Tierazon are quite easy to use. The fractals I use a lot in my artworks are freely available from many sites on deviantART but in my opinion, the best are from Moonchilde stock [link] and Fune-stock [link]
So, even if you aren't an artist, you can now speak like one
Coral, who knows about the power of positive thinking and who also works better under pressure

So sorry for the very late reply. I find myself wondering if these pick up lines your future employer suggested would work. Maybe she has been out of the singles scene a little too long I may be wrong....you may have tried them and they worked
