Thank you for the watch as well. More to come in my galleries. I had to deal with some medical issues first and my health had to come before my work. As I recover I'll be adding more to my galleries.
I love your sense of design and color. You really know your way around a color wheel. I'm very drawn to greens blues and violets (my fave color) which is why I did the lotus in those colors.

Hey... I was just now able to register with Alamy but my 8-bit color images are too small for them. They want 48 meg uncompressed and my 10 megapixel Nikon D200 will make 57 meg uncompressed files but at 16-bit. When they are changed over to 8-bit, the file size becomes half. Oh, well.

So they are taking new photographers now? Where did you see they are not? So are you saying they want 48mgb 8 bit uncompressed or 16 bit? Cant you just upsize them in photoshop?
I hope we can both be with them someday. I've researched many agencies and Editorial Photographers and ASMP both say their contract is one of the most fair to us.
Please keep me informed as to what you find out. I should probably look at their requirments so as I start scanning I can have what they want.

My bad... they are accepting. And "yes" you can interpolate with Photoshop. You have to register then submit 3 of your best pics. They get back to you in about a day and a half to let you know. I hope to find out by end of today.

I'm so glad you are considering them. I'm not sure if you knew about them or their contracts but as a professional I'm glad you considered what I was saying.
Some photographers don't care about how much of their rights they sign off on and it hurts our profession and industry.

I thank you for suggestion Alamy. I never even knew they existed. I thought I applied to them a while back, but I guess I was mistaken.
You do realize that they have royalty-free photos, too? I think I'm going to offer the "teen" pics as rf only because the grain is compromised because of my own stupidity. I forgot to change the iso from 640 to 200. Damn.

Im sooooooooo glad you found out about them. They allow you to market your own work on the side and don't ask for first refusal rights like Getty does. Please keep me informed about the ongoing process because I plan to begin submitting work to them sometime very soon now that I'm getting my life back together again.
Yes they do offer royalty free and I'm sorry If it seemed I came down hard on you about that. However when I saw what that site was paying you that was what got my nerve up. Leave those sites to the amateurs your work is too good for that.
There should be quite a lenghty submission guide in .pdf format as I recall. They want minimal sharpening and are really picky about histograms. I might need your advice on that once I read it over again since I'm no expert with Photoshop.
Good luck A. I'd be proud to be on there with you and I'm glad you are taking this step.

I try not to do any sharpening and have to suck it up and not submit anything that would need it. Bleh. I just have to remember to shoot better next time.
The histogram thing is easy. Open "levels" in Photoshop and move the black slider to where the curve starts in the shadows and move the white slider to where the curve starts in the highlights.
Sometimes I cheat and create layers and mask out sections that I want to salvage due to underexposure. I'm hoping to get better with my lighting that I won't have to do any of that crap in the future.

I'm invited to a wedding of one of my best and longest time friends. I'd like to go but I cannot stay around my father for too long. So I'm going to see how many friends I can visit with around that time so that I'm not trapped in my father's dictatorshop and absolute monarchy for too long. It's really not worth the cost to just go home for a week so I'd rather see if I spend some time with friends while there. The wedding would be on July 4th.
So it seems the histogram is just similar to the way I set my levels so no highlights or shadows are cut off. I thought I read somewhere where they Alamy actually analyzes the curve of the histogram and that is what concerns me. I'm not sure what a good curve looks like. If an image looks ok to me and others can one assume my curve is ok too?
