The new star wars teaser is out.
Thoughts? Predictions? Etc?
I predict that due to the film's title and the narration that while The Force
was almost extinct in Episodes 4-6 that here there will be a revival.
The stormtrooper shown in the clip is likely to be one of those who are "awakened". Which would explain why he is lost, confused, and scared.
He probably heard some strange voice in his head (thus narration) and
is just like "who was that? Who's there!? What the hell!"
Some people say he's only pretending to be a storm trooper but I find
the idea of a storm trooper discovering the Force and going rogue to be
more interesting.

Hey, I need to ask you something, is it me, or is shows like Gundam and Macross very unpopular in in the US? It seem like they all have a very small fanbase, while shows like Naruto and Bleach have a larger fanbase. I mean come on, who doesn't like a good giant robot fight now and then?

Hmm, that depends on the area of fandom you're in. When it comes to mainstreme anime, Naruto and Bleach are certainly up there (for unknown reasons; i find them overrated, myself). There's a meme i've heard that "there's only FIVE anime", being Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, and i forget the other.
But for a while in the US, Gundam was relatively popular, at least to folks who watched Toonami, because of the successful runs of Gundam Wing and G Gundam. There were even american ads for the model kits on tv.
As to Macross, you'd have to be a real anime otaku to be familiar with it. Most non-anime nerds are more familiar with Robotech. I think the problem that it's less popular here is because of Harmony Gold, who owns Robotech, withholding many international rights regarding Macross, especially merchandising. It's a very complicated, tied up legal affair. When it comes to Macross, all we've really gotten here is the original series, Macross II, and Macross Plus, while everything else has had to have been withheld, so it's no wonder a lot of people stateside haven't gotten much exposure to Macross.

Well, even if Harmony Gold never existed or had finally lost the license, we still won't have Macross cause getting the license would be a pain in the ass due to the music making it so expensive. Harmony Gold's a small problem nowadays, there are BIGGER things (aka the music licening) holding it over.
P.S. I heard Tommy Yune was willing to license it and give it to ADV, but Big West didn't want to cooperate.
Plus, HG helped ADV release the uncut English dub for the original Macross.

yea, both HG and BW are companies having trouble playing hardball.
As to the ADV release of Macross, that may be true, but sadly it wasn't enough to make Macross stellar-popular in the States, i'm afraid. it was a good effort, though.

Yeah, i think the reason the ADV release of Macross did not sell well is because
1. It's old.
2. People are more familiar with Robotech.
3. Mecha anime is a not very popular here, like I said before.

1 and 2 could very well be. as for mecha anime not being popular, that's debatable. while not technically anime, Transformers has always been pretty big, and to a lesser extent, my hero Voltron. and as i said, for a while Gundam had a string of popularity among viewers of Toonami. And who knows, Pacific Rim's success could very well usher in a new wave of giant mecha material.
