Translation of Canon DSLR names:

xxxxD = budget level, current camera is 1100D which is basically a 450D
xxxD = entry level, current is 650D
xxD = mid level, current is 60D
xD = Semi pro and pro:

7D = APS-C sized sensor, two Digic IV processors for 8fps shooting in raw (this is the one I have)(last gen) (£1200 body only)
5D MK II = full frame but poor auto focus and slow fps (last gen)
5D MK III = full frame with very good auto focus and 6fps (current gen) (£3000 ish body only)
1D MK IV = Just under full frame but 10fps, designed for sports (last gen)
1Ds MK III = full frame but slow fps designed for studio work (last gen)
1DX = full frame all bells and whistle lastest body. Shoots at 15 fps with an incredibly powerful auto focus system, designed for sports and studio. (current gen) (£5000 ish body only) (a random guy let me have a goo with one of these once and its the fucking tits)
