Hey, if i can give you an hint, for the practice on paper use a tougher pencil. A 2H or 1H, then, for the darkest part, use the soft pencils. HB, B and -i always cross over 2 3 and 4- go until 5B.
The 6B and over start to become more charcoal than regular pencil.
