Hello Charles, have you got anything planed photography wise for 2019?Β I've just shot Winchester Cathedral a few days ago and am eyeing up a some other places for later on in the year.

These days I am pretty much opportunistic. Nothing planned, I just carry a camera and as things, people and ideas present themselves, I shoot them.Β

Mr Fallis-
I am here because of your comment for rasmus, it was so brilliant.Β I admire you for taking the time and with that, you have my respect.Β In this day and age far too many don't care enough to give intelligent opinionsΒ to help others which is a shame.Β Maybe I, like you, who are not of this millennial age can't understand them.Β Thank you for your contributions and I look forward to attempting to create time to go through your portfolio and comments to others.

I have critiqued several of rasmus's photos. Some of them are quite beautiful, but others have problems that I have pointed out (along with what to do about them). He and I are both old-timers and have been doing this for quite a while. We both know our way around a camera better than most, but I think he tends to shoot mostly by instinct while my fine art background and exposure to a great many lighting, darkroom and Photoshop techniques has made me more of a planner and problem solver. Fortunately, he has good instincts, so he gets quite a few very good photos. Unfortunately, instincts don't help much when you run into problems (I've had to deal with things like sagging flesh, cellulite, scars, bags under eyes,Β birthmarks and so on and have learned what to do about them). I am hoping to show him some solutions that he can use to solve those problems when they arise again. I am not quite sure what to call what he is doing. It is almost glamour photography, but there is no makeup and vey little photographic flattery, which is integral to glamour photography. I used to teach this stuff, so when I see someone who is ALMOST there, I can't help but try to help.

I am sure rasmus is most grateful for your insight.Β As far as his style, I agree, it's difficult to categorize and may be one of the reasons I enjoy his work so much.Β He does have some truly outstanding captures and I even wrote a detailed comment on one of them because I felt it was so good.Β He is lucky to have you as an almost mentor and DAΒ - and the photographic world - is privileged to have someone who's not only talented, but willing to advise.

Have you seen his latest portrait of Draco? It's stunning, maybe the best photo he's ever taken.

You're welcome. I have been shooting nudes forΒ 40+ years, I think you are very good (not perfect, but good), and I am planning to start commenting on your photos and leaving critiques.

No problem. I used to teach this stuff in college and founded an artist's mentor program for illustrators. It's second nature to me now.

Not at all. I am a professional photographer and the first thing I thought when I saw it was that I wished I had taken it.
