^^ You're welcome. I've been working on my own Original Story recently, but since the absence of my co-author, I'm trying to do some fanfiction in terms of, maybe FFXIII-related or Skyrim. 
But, despite my shipping of Cairai, I still love Caius to pieces. That hasn't changed. At all.

Ah, original stories are fantastic. Nothing like spending hours daydreaming about worldbuilding and characters and storylines... I love it. It's one of the best things in life. ^^ So, what made you decide to follow Cairai and Noel x Yeul? I know you were pretty fond of both Hoperai and Caius x Yeul, so I'm genuinely curious.

And duh, you're still free to be a huge fan of Caius. I mean, I'm a hardcore Cairai shipper and I still am a reasonable fangirl. ^^

The worry with making an original story and such is that I'm a fangirl and I've had a lot of fan characters in the past. I know how fan communities work. However, I'm always worried about characters coming off as Mary-Sue or people thinking I'm copying things off others. It's a real paranoia of mine. Since I don't have anyone else other than my co-author to review my characters and writing, it's really tough...
Well, basically, Lightning Returns. Got it for my birthday and I'm in love with it. Going through Noel's main quest opened my eyes for the love he had for Yeul, and Yeul's 'love' for Caius isn't exactly reliable as each incarnation of Yeul is different; whilst one may love Caius, another may not see it that way. During Caius' quest, I saw some sort of... tension or bond between him and Lightning. Despite Yeul's request, Lightning could have chosen to not try and save Caius, but she did, despite the conflicts in XIII-2. I just think they... have a sort of chemistry together. And if they were in a relationship, it's not the type that they couldn't be without each other, they're both independently strong so when it comes to battles and such, they don't need to rely on each other, but together they could do some wicked damage.

Rant there, my bad. We're totally reasonable Caius fangirls, aren't we? XP

I can certainly help with that, if you like. I beta read and I can provide advice, too, since I've been writing almost literally my entire life and, while I'm not published yet, I've learned quite a lot. Making a character a Mary Sue/Gary Stu by accident can be terrifying, but it's actually pretty easy to avoid once a basic structure of the narrative and world has been established. The fun of creating characters, at least for me, is creating that mold to drop everything into .

Oh my, LR piched the Cairai fandom a huge bone we've gotten to gnaw on ever since. Seriously, I didn't expect to get what we got. I've dissected their scenes so much and watched them in both English and Japanese over and over... and now there's all new headcanons and stories that can come out of it... My love for the ship grew a hundredfold after that game came out. And yes, I agree, there was definitely some odd sort of tension present. I'd never before believed so wholeheartedly that it can work. And while I do think she would've avoided him entirely if she hadn't felt 1) vindictive or 2) that it'd actually help the state of the world, maybe in the end she didn't completely feel like it was wasted time. There was closure - not the best kind, of course, but there was - and it was better than I'd expected to get.

Oh, yes, completely reasonable. Why would anyone ever say otherwise?

The problem is, I put my heart into my stories and characters - with the main character quite literally, her personality is molded around mine in a sense - so, when people outright call my characters a Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu, I feel a bit hurt. My main character has been the result of several rehashes, redesigns and reboots all due to the paranoia she might be a Mary-Sue. I think my co-author's gonna kill me X3  

Definitely. Oh my Gosh, yes. That game is just... definitely the result and reason of my solidifying of the shippings. The only characters I'm unsure of are Hope, Vanille and Fang. I don't know where I stand with any of those characters, though I know a lot of people ship the latter two.

I know exactly what you speak of. All my early fics were Sue stories, and the criticism I got sent me to tears at times. Getting through that was tremendously difficult. That being said, I've now gotten so much better at characters in general. I've also found a lot of fantastic resources online that have really helped me. I'm thinking of dropping a journal with links to them for fellow writers because they've been so helpful. ^^

I generally ship Hope with Vanille, or with no one. As for Fang, I like the thought of her and Snow, like during the thirteen years before the world's end, when everyone was kind of unaccounted for. If not, I don't ship her with anyone. Some ship her with Caius, but I'm not a fan of it. He belongs with Lightning. ^^

Caius makes purple look so good it's not even funny.

Hm that might be helpful. ^^ My main character is such the worst when it comes to stress about that sort of thing. I've been working on a story for about... 2-3 years, working on it with my co-author for about a year of that, and gone through about... eight official revamps all because of her. It's been so crazy ;-; I'm writing up a profile that I could put up on dA for you to check if you have the time, to see if she's okay. Though one of the main problems is her past, which comes as spoilers to the story because I'm extremely paranoid that there's such a thing as too traumatic. I'm not a person for all happy hero stories.

Hope and Vanille... I haven't actually played FFXIII, ironically. XP But it's safe to say that, from the clips I've seen, that would go well. Fang is a strong, independent woman, I'm sure she'd be fine with or without a person.

I loved purple before, but because of Caius, I just love it so much more now.

I might do it, then. There's a ton of resources that have been incredibly helpful for me that I think would be great for other writers to see, as well. Anyone worried about Mary Sues, plotholes, etc. I think would learn a lot from what I've found. It all certainly helped me, and I was one of the worst Suefic writers ever. If you saw some of my earlier work, you'd understand where I was coming from. ^^ I would certainly be happy to help a fellow writer out! Go ahead and ask me about anything. It might be a bit before I get back to you, but I will. I'll beta read, crit, whatever you need. I'm game.

Fang does fine either way, definitely, and honestly having her romantically with anyone feels really weird. Part of me really wants to write a genuine Snow x Fang story because of the challenge it offers (I wrote one as my first piece of this year, but it was a slightly rushed oneshot). I love a challenge when it comes to writing.

Mmm, yes, purple is fantastic because of Caius. I remember being one of those who was like "okay, purple? Feathers? Tie-dye? What the...?" when he made his first appearance. I thought it was a pretty dumb design. And believe it or not, I initially thought his voice was kind of lame, too. Hard to believe now. ^^

I hope it isn't too much to ask if you could review her. I'm not sure if you'd be interested in my story as it goes along though. Because, her past, and some of it is a bit... spoiler-ish to the story, so I'm not sure about that from where you stand.

Yeah. Challenges are fun. Fang's awesome either way, guy or not.

Oh man. His voice was the first thing I fell in love with. I just sorta... died inside and melted in my seat having a total fangirl breakdown.

You could always drop it in a Stash document, that way you can share it only with the people you want to share it with, if you'd like me to take a look. ^^ As for spoilers, they're fine in general. As I've found in my writing, there's things that are set in stone, but then there's so many other things that are constantly changing as they flow toward a final form, so it doesn't bother me if I come across spoilers.

I had the opposite reaction. I thought it was too low and anime-ish for his appearance. In my head, he sounded quite different. Mr. O'Brien's performance, I think, greatly improved come LR, though.

But I suppose in order for you to review her, you need to know the full details of her past. And that's fine. ^^ I'm just mainly concerned with her past and her personality, if it's realistic for her to be how she is because of her past. 

Wow, really? My friends in the online community kept making fun of me because of how in love I was with his voice and teasing me. XP Even now, I still have a fangirl implosion as I try to repress it as not to seem even more weird.

Completely understandable. Finding that balance is tough, and it takes a lot of practice, but it can be done. The key, though, is exactly that: practice. That's why I write fanfiction: not just for fun, but also for practice. The hardest thing for me to write is a good romance, and so I practice mostly by writing fics with at least one romance plot, so as to find my comfort zone and hone the relevant skills. You should definitely try writing some fics. They'll help a lot.

Yeah, really. ^^ Though now, I love his voice, in all honesty. Back then, though, I didn't exactly know what to make of it. Though I like to think that Lightning secretly adores it

Ah, romance. I'm desperately trying to find a healthy balance. I don't want to end up being the next Twilight. There is a love-triangle, I'm ashamed to say, with my main character Elsa, but hopefully I can pull it off... ><

I'm still sent head-over-heels with that voice. Though to be honest, Caius and I aren't exactly on good terms at the moment... XP His battle in Lightning Returns is so stressful! >< For the first time in like, months, I technically rage-quit. Why must you do this to me, Caius? .-.

It's pretty difficult to pull off love triangles, I think. At least, I've never been particularly good at them. ^^ Well, I'm happy to look over anything you'd like me to critique, although it'd probably be best to get as many opinions as you can. No one person is exactly right, as you know.

I've heard his battle is extremely difficult. That's a small reason (among many) why I'm reluctant to play the game.
