Alright, Iβll try to keep this as organized as possible but sometimes I can be a bit scatterbrained. . .
Masami has a lovely character design overall. I think her purple outfitβs complement her hair very nicely. I thought the way you water colored her wedding kimono in the wardrobe task was beautiful and I think you should use watercolor on her more often. Iβve seen some of your other watercolor artwork and itβs really good. The skin tones you did with watercolor on your faceless pictures with the star consolations were so nice and I think it would be nice to see those on your characters as well. Since you seem to like to use colored pencils have you ever considered using watercolor pencils? They were a favorite medium of mine before I switched digital art (Though, Iβll warn you, when you put water to the black, it turnβs very black so donβt layer it on to much). The colors from the pencils themselves comes of easier and nice than regular colored pencils. You also might find that using thicker inking pens will help with your line quality. Practicing realism will help you greatly with you manga drawing skills. You should check out www.youtube.com/user/markcrillβ¦ . I found his videoβs very useful when I was drawing manga. Overall I think the best piece of advice I could give you is donβt be afraid to layer colors and shadows on thick and rich. My high school art teacher always told me (constantly, in like every single picture I did), βMake it darker, Sarah, youβve got to make it darker.β I hope this was helpful and I look forward to seeing more pictures of Masami as well as some of your other characters (and Iβm still dying to know how she lost her sight. . .)
