Hello there. I am sorry to bother you but I am trying to help spread around this petition to save the animated show Star Wars The Clone Wars. As you might have already heard, the show has been cancelled as of Disney's aquistion of the Star wars franchise. While I believe this is a long shot, people right now are trying to persuade disney not to cancel the show and allow them to continue creating everything they had originally planned. It is said that they had plans to take the show to an eight season if possible. Right now they plan to only release two arcs for the so called bonus content and neither of them reveal the fates of Ahsoka, Ventress, Maul, or Rex. They were even suppose to make a bounty hunter arc that revealed the fates of Cad Bane and Aurra Sing but now that won't be shown. To leave The Clone Wars unfinished would mean leaving all this characters in limbo. Dave Filoni and his team deserve to finish leaving their mark on Star Wars after everything they have done.

For the sake of continuity in the Star Wars universe, as well as a good show, I ask you to sign the petition by going to through the link below to help save the Clone Wars. All you need is to be on facebook. If you do not care for the show or are not interested, I respect your opinion and apologize in advance for bothering you. Thank you for you time.

If you already signed the petition then I apologize for annoying you and really appreciate the support you have given. If you could share the petition with your friends and other star wars fans, that would be great.

Note that you need a facebook account to sign. If you don't have one, sign this petition here on DA

Hello!
I'm so glad go see you active again)) Your work must have been extremely interesting, so you didn't post any pictures for long time. What have you been doing?

I've finished my university this summer...Have got a pharmaceutical specialty. But in the morning of the day of diploma-distribution, I realised that I didn't like it at all. All these pills and what-not,they're extremely boring and always have been. And I always wanted to study biology and chemistry... But back in scool, I was afraid that I would never get a job if I chose one of those specialities. That was the way i got into all this pharmaceutical trouble. I've decided to try a small bit of science now: became a PhD student on biochemistry department, and now I'm continuing alpha-fetoprotein-doxorobicin-dendrimers-conjugates theme, started in diploma work.

That was a prominent day, day of diploma-distribution. I had got unexplainably depressed as early as the day before (why I'm always in a bad mood before all important social doings?), and decided to skip Rector's speech and go to the lab instead, to inflate some balloons with helium and to cry on my teacher's shoulder once more. Poor Doctor, how much he had endured during my education! I was a nasty student, always doing something wrong, whining, crying for attention - like an especially nasty little child. He had done a collosal work.
...That balloon idea was also his - to make things brighter a little.
When we eventually arrived to our faculty building and I've pulled the bundle out of the car... I've never looked sillier than when I was marching to my fate in a dress, with hair tousled by wind, and a bunch of silly colored balloons flying above my head! And everybody on the street was staring at me in such suspicious sort of way, as if asking oneself if I should be put under close supervision of some good psyhologist. Extremely embarassing! But I have such a memory of this big day now)) That was not all, of course. With my teacher, you never know when something is looming on the horizon again.
Now I have to go, because it's really late and I've to get to the lab early tomorrow. But I'd be happy to tell you more! And more happy to hear from you!

Ah, congratulations to you for graduating! What an accomplishment that is! Pharmaceutics are known to be pretty difficult topic here in the US and I admire you for that! & I hope you'll find tons happiness in your new major too! Doing what you love can only bring great fortune and happiness! : )

& hah ha ha, what a great story! Even if it was so hectic during that day, you'll look back on it as a great memory! & how great is that to have such a great doctor! What an amazing person to have guide you!... and let you cry on! What a magical tale though!

Anyways, I wish you tons of luck in your work and the future ahead! I would love to hear more about your work and everything else I've yet to hear from you! Your stories completely brighten my day! : D

& me? Oh, nothing much has been going on! I've left Walt Disney World and I'm back in school studying mechanical engineering... Tons of math, science, anthropology, and tons of projects! & on the side I've been playing around with a new art style, but I'm too hesitant to post anything on dA... Perhaps I'll become active later, but I'm fine just using dA to talk with others for right now! All in all, I can only say that I've been kept rather busy! I guess this can be a sort of positive, right? And I have only one more week until Thanksgiving break... Ooh, I'm looking so forward to being home with my family and my cats and enjoying this cold time of year together! & also, turkey and cranberry sauce! Ha ha, why is it that I always think about food and holidays together at once? Hah ha, anyways, like I said, not too much has been going on!

Hope all is well and to hear from you soon! : D

Dear Kay,
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you!

I'm sorry for such a huge delay with answer. I was very happy to get your letter, but decided to answer after an adventure which had been forthcoming, would come to the end. But when I returned home, I was informed that I meanwhile had been put to another one by you-know-who... And then...And then... And holidays started at last. So now I can tell you all.

To start my story, let's return to the lab, to the same day- Diploma-day. Teacher (for convenience, I'll call him Mr. Cherry - his surname is written like this if transliterated) was surfing through the internet, I was doing something nearby.

"Ay, Sofia. Do you have a foreign passport?" (by the way, do you also have such thing as 'foreign passport'? )

I tried to make it two times, but it was hard. The process takes more than a month and requires a lot of documents, confirmed by your employer, checked and rechecked, then rejected, remade and reconfirmed again (I don't know people who managed it from the first attempt). Plus queues which start from the dawn till the end of work-day. It's much easier to make when you don't have any work - nobody to confirm your papers and nowhere to go on workdays...

"Nope..."
"Wanna make it?"
"Oh, yes, yes! But what for?"
"How do you feel about ... visiting China?"

I'm very curious and I like adventures. And I had never ever been abroad before. Because if you decide to travel, you should go somewhere exotic - and I was too small to go alone earlier, and my parents wouldn't go with me.

"Of course, I want! But how?"
"Look, there's conference taking place in Beijing this autumn. All you should do it's write an article based on your diploma. If they like it, you shall go and tell them about your work and have a splendid time, because a lot of work is waiting for us next year. So?.."

So I spent two dreadful weeks writing my very-first real article, on a foreign language, no less. Meanwhile, Mr. Cherry was on holiday - as usual, with the ornithologists, marking birds on the White Sea shore. And they didn't have Internet there, so I couldn't ask for help.
...During sleepless nights, I diluted article-writing by watching "Pirates of the Carribean", because that was as far from nanotechnologies and cancer treatment, as it could be. Pirates helped a lot, and from now I'll always see them as the symbol of liberty and holidays.

When the article was done, I started to hope for some holidays, too. But there came the time of blood tests for some pre-clinical drug-test. That's the way we get some money, because grants are too small.
And then were my exams for PhD scholarship. Oh, I was frightened, but teachers were so kind. And Mr. Cherry helped a lot, too. He even tried to put all biochemistry into my head during last hour before the exam.

On the last day of the summer, lists were announced, and I was there.
It was a beautiful day - still summer, but the air started to get colder, golden sparks appeared on the green mass of the park, the sun was setting in golden fire. Mr. Cherry made a mulled wine, and that was the best beverage I ever tested. Sweet as summer, with fragrance of autumn fruits, and so warm - to warm us for forthcoming long winter...

...October came. Off to China!
I was excited. I liked the plane, the hotel, the weather - warm and dry. The traffic - just imagine, bikes everywhere! In Moscow, If you ride a bike, you must be very adventurous and very, very careful... I know only one person, who risked it several times.
On the fuel station I have met a pet duck. If you have a dog or a cat here, you have to pay for them - but maybe that's no problem if you have a bird. The duck was fat, white and very audacious - he wanted some food and I didn't have any, so he bit my fingers a little. He liked to be caressed, too - it's the first bird in my life who liked to communicate with people.

I've prepared a cheat sheet for my presentation - written with big letters on A4 sheets, but I was so frightened, that didn't see a word. All my talk was a pure improvisation, full of mistakes, I afraid )) and with terrible accent, too. But I managed! I was so proud, nevertheless)). And I've met a lot of interesting people from different countries. My English wasn't very good, but they all understood me, so all still can be all right. Please, tell me, if I make mistakes! Chinese people almost don't speak English - except sellers on big markets. These sellers are absolutely great not only in English, but in Russian, too! I don't know how, but they distinguish russians from other foreigners - they immediately changed from English to Russian when they saw me. Even when I was in company of my european collegues and they did all the talking, the seller pointed on me and said: "But she still looks very much russian!" Oh, how do they know? I didn't wear any red stars or bearskin! Maybe we have special face expression... I don't know. If you have any ideas, tell me, please.

I've met a woman from our institute there, Irina - it appeared that I had made gas chromatography tests for one of her works!
She was still waiting for results, which should be sent by Mr. Cherry. But he was silent. He even didn't ask me about my presentation! That was not fair, I thought. I've got results with me on my flash disk, so the first problem was solved easily.
As for the second... several days before my departure he became a father. He was so happy and proud! And I was jealous a little. Stupid me, I know
Next day me and Irina climbed the Great wall. It goes like serpentine over the mountains, and looks beautiful! It's cold, windy and sunny there. Beijing sky is always misty, but here in the mountains sky was very clear and all looked so warm under yellow light of the setting sun.
I've seen how the silk is made from cocoons (larva inside is black and scary, but thay say it should be fried and eaten) and how cultured pearls are grown... That's nice, but a little smelly.
When evening came, little streets were illuminated with red lanterns and air was filled with very special sweet spice smell - street cooks appeared from nowhere. This is forbidden, but there are thousands of them.
And all dogs I've seen here have short pekingese faces - I didn't see any dog with ordinary wolf-like face.
The trip lasted five days, and it was great.

Immediately after my return, I knew that in a fortnight I'm going to the city Kazan with several other institute workers - young scientists and doctors - to work (in theory) and to see the city and to sit and listen on the conference about genomic and postgenomic methods of analysis. Why didn't we work? Because it's how it works in Russia - the work had already been done, and the money for it was given only afterwards. Part of them had to be used for business trip to Kazan university. I wasn't invited from the first, but Mr Cherry gave me his place. So because of him, I went to my second trip.
We were said that we'll live in the hotel. But... ho-ho, that's Soviet Russia! We got the most soviet student's hostel. I always wanted to see one, but... it came a little unexpected. I wanted to make some photos, but forgot about it completely, because was busy surviving. Rooms were dirty, but without any insects, that's good. And when we tried to open the window in our room and then opened the door, wind knocked out the part of our window - it appeared to be plastered to other parts with pieces of cloths. It fell on the bed and thus didn't break; but it was -5 below zero, so partly broken window was a big problem. Three men from our company were so kind that they changed their room with girls. Russian men can bear everything, especially when on vacation, I mean business trip)) Next day the window was mended.
That's the photo of some hostel that's very alike - for you to see.
[link]
I was really happy to come home from Kazan.
And the very next day the theme of my dissertation should be approved on Academic Council. But it didn't - because I didn't get all the documents - because I wasn't told to)) Pharmaceutical Council, to which all my collegues belonged, needed only one paper for this, and my new Medical Council - a full folder.
"Never mind- said Mr. Cherry - like teacher, like student. I've been approved on December session, too... Better tell me about your trip..."
"And how are you and all here?"
"Well... We're all all right. But from the other point of view, all is bad."
"Oh...What happened?"
"What's more important to you - a scientific degree or a normal work with normal salary?"
"Well.... to be honest... the second. (the salary of Senior Researcher in our institute is 270$ per month, and that's not a joke. they all have additional works. The salary of Department Head is $1000.).
"Good you didn't say "Thanks of the Fuhrer". Our firm is eliminated. I'm leaving, too".
"....................."......
***

I have to add more details here.
You see, our President said that institutes should integrate with industry, creating "small innovational facilities". Little firms, based on institutes, should be encouraged and promoted...
We wanted to create a firm based on our lab, which would carry out pre-clinical and clinical research of new drugs - that's cheaper in Russia then in European countries or in America, where most of new substances are developed, so Russia has plenty of such orders. Meanwhile, that would give us the opportunity to carry on clinical trials of anti-cancer vaccine our lab, and Mr. Cherry in particular, had developed.
But to create a firm, you need a lot of money - to get all equipment, to renovate the rooms, so on. Our institute didn't give us money, of course. They're always thinking how to steal it!
That's the only one institution in late Soviet Union, which still gets good funds. Try to guess, what it is?

Yes, you're right. Military.
Mr Cherry managed to make an agreement with them - they would buy an equipment for us, we would make a lot of money on it and then give them their. Equipment was bought, required renovations were maid, and we started to work. Blood tests for some pre-clinical research was one of our first orders, that gas-chromatography for Irina, too. We also made urine tests for Urological research institute - the prime cost of such test is $1, Mr. Cherry developed a technique which was 30 times cheaper...

(I know, in your country this in unthinkable - starting working before the firm registration is completed. In Russia, nothing is made in right order, because the other way it won't be never made.)
All would be splendid, if only... If only stupid institute's chiefs signed papers in time! The process, which should take a day, took a year and a half - because, as I see now, Chiefs wanted a bribe. So, Military boys became tired of waiting and broke the deal at last. Mr. Cherry had to go and work for them. And we have to manage to live without him!
The next month all personell of the lab was in depression. Especially me. How could I work without my scientific adviser? Other workers are genetic engineers, they're not good in chemistry at all. Oh.
Mr Cherry was grim as a storm cloud.
We dismantled and packed equipment he was going to take to the new place. I won't forget this day, too... He never rised a voice to us, even when I made silly mistakes or broke something. So I didn't understand what was happening at once. That he wasn't joking, but for the first time in four years that I know him, shouting in anger.
"Tell me, why did I do all this?! Who needed it?! That was for them, why didn't these idiots see it?! And you, too!! What are you doing there? Don't you see that that's all useless?.. Nobody can do nothing in here!"

It was very sad.
Then he saw my face... hugged me and said he was very sorry. Then took a bottle of rum, which he found behind the chromatograph - must be the present of some students' group.
"Let's go to the neigbours. We should say a proper goodbye, shouldn't we?"
Neighbours were the suppliers of blood samples. Two of my classmates work here.
...We sat in their lab till all workers went home, long after the bottle was emptied, mostly by him. Then we returned and during next hour he was telling our seniour genetic engeneer something long and tangled about unit of society, ethology and so on.

The next day I had a philosophy lesson, and couldn't close my mouth, too. That was my best philosophy lesson - half an hour of speaking without previous studying. Took an example, I think.

I felt very miserable all last month, like it was my personal Doomsday. Meanwhile, many things happened. One of gengeneers said she's going to leave, too. And we have to move to the new place - our rooms are required to some new bureaucrats. Our new place seemed to me far worse. And we got a new Department director. Then my work got a prize on young scientists's competition. We suddenly got a new device, which was ordered more than a year ago, and now we should find a way to use it somehow Now I feel like I became a hostess here, so now that's my concern. My theme was truly approved on December session. We're starting new series of tests a day after tomorrow...

And we got a lot of great textbooks as a heritage. They will be of use. Now I'm going to be the new Biochemistry teacher. Nobody can substitute the best teacher of the department, but.. I will try to do my best.
Mr Cherry said that all would be all right. I hope so ))) But I will miss the old times very much.

Sorry for such a long story. I hope It didn't bore you)))

Have a good luck and
