They were framed! heh. In all seriousness though - random rat trivia of the day - the fleas of the black rat (Rattus rattus) are thought to be responsible for the plague. Pets rats are an entirely different species (Rattus norvegicus) and if they do have fleas they have different species of fleas which are far less likely to jump to humans (not that I've known any pet rat to have fleas!). So.. we can legitimately say that pet rats have been framed..

You'll have to take loads of photos to share when you eventually get them!
