Hahaha, it looks like the more fans ask about it the less chance there is for a new album. I'm thankful to be an A Perfect Circle fan though!

True. I like the two single they've put out so far. Is Jame Iha still part of APC? They might have to share him with Smashing Pumpkins soon.

Yeah, I'm enjoying their new music too! I still haven't heard the 3rd single, they released it recently! Yes, I think James Iha is still part of APC, he even appears in The Doomed's video. Not sure if he will play at live shows but he's still active with the band!

Yes, it will come out soon, I'm very excited! I believe so too. I see some fans complaining that they don't sound like the old APC anymore, or that these singles are not so good and stuff and I can't help to roll my eyes. This is the same kind of people that complain at every new album and years later they end up saying it's a masterpiece. Why are people like that?
I'm just so grateful these men got together again and created some new amazing music after so much time!

Not that it's a bad song but I felt Weak and Powerless works better in context of the album than as a stand alone single and like you said people were skeptical when that was realised and 13th step kicked arse. I'm way more into the singles off this album so I'm super hyped. Do you remember when 10,000 Days leaked and some people swore up and down it was a troll album and the real album was still to come? Fun times. Lol.

DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-02-17 23:32:22 +0000 UTC]
OMG Weak and Powerless is probably my fav song from them so I can't give an objective opinion but I understand what you mean. I became an APC fan just before Thirteen Steps was released, I bought the CD and that was my first time listening to all the songs. I missed all the complaining back then but I can imagine people complaining that Weak and Powerless "doesn't sound like APC" or "it's so different from Mer de Noms, where is Judith part 2?"
Hahaha oh yes, I remember!! Man, but I don't blame those people LOL There have been so many fake rumors about new albums before that people got a bit incredulous I think the leaked version was very bad quality, I think I didn't download it because I was doubtful too
AND OMGGGG DID YOU READ THE NEWWWWSSSSSSSSSSS!!! MAYNARD HIMSELF said something about starting to work on some Tool songs YASSSSS! Check his twitter!! ->twitter.com/mjkeenan/status/96… It may take time, but it seems there's hope for Tool fans too!

LadyStephanny In reply to DoveStation [2018-02-18 07:15:50 +0000 UTC]
The best bands are the ones who have a different sound with each album. APC is definitely one of those bands. Someone, not sure if it was confirmed to be them, did a troll track for Schism that was on file sharing sites which sounded like chainsaws with a robotic voice calling people arseholes and telling people to buy the track. I kept it but unfortunately lost it a long time ago. Did you ever listen to Ashes Devide? Musically great but it wasn't the same without Maynard.

DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-02-18 12:45:49 +0000 UTC]
I'm not gonna lie to you. Sometimes I do get a bit disappointed when bands release new albums that are quite different from the old ones, sometimes I even lose interest in them if the change is too big/mainstream. But it's not the case with Maynard's bands, even if they do something different I'll enjoy it. I know it will grow on me with time, and even if it doesn't I'll respect it.
Hahaha OMG It was probably them LOL I have faith in Maynard, though. He gave us hope for Tool, but I'm sure he will troll us when the album is close to be released and I'm sure fans will go crazy trying to decipher stuff.
YESSS I LOVE ASHES DIVIDE! This is a Billy Howerdel project, so Maynard didn't have anything to do with that though he did help to promote it. I loved Billy finally taking the lead, I actually love his voice and we don't get to hear it often in Maynard's bands, so it was a blessing for me. I hope he will release new music for Ashes Divide, I will support that man no matter what.
Now, Puscifer is the one band that gets me the less excited. I've tried listening to some songs but I didn't quite like them. How about you?

LadyStephanny In reply to DoveStation [2018-02-19 05:49:33 +0000 UTC]
Took me a few listens to get into Puscifer. Still not huge into them but I like the songs Queen B, Momma Sed, Revelation 20:22 and The Undertaker. The cover of Rocket Man was pretty sweet too.

Lol, of course. What do you think of the whole Wings for Marie Part 3 thing? I can hear it but some people I've showed it too say they can't.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-02-20 22:49:35 +0000 UTC]
Ahh, I didn't even remember about that, I haven't listened to 10,000 days album in years but 10,000 days and Wings are basically one song so it's no big surprise they kinda match if overlapped. I tried searching for Wings for Marie Part 3 on youtube but there are several versions. What's the one you listened to? I listened to this www.youtube.com/watch?v=EFjEp7… I think it sounds good in general but some parts don't quite sync. I don't have an opinion about this theory that these songs are meant to be overlapped, I'm rusty about these songs, but I admit it's a plausible theory and it actually sounds great for the most part.
I do remember those times when I read about the Fibonacci sequence in Lateralus. I did the spiral thing and it was amazing how some songs end/intro really matched! I enjoy these things about Tool!

LadyStephanny In reply to DoveStation [2018-02-22 05:09:49 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I ripped my copy of Lateralus and renumbering them and plan on burning it to a CD. I actually prefer it that way. I don't know if you know Radiohead but there's a rumour that their albums OK Computer and In Rainbows are supposed to be listened to as one super album with track 1 of Computer leading into track one from Rainbows and so on. I agree, it's awesome when bands do stuff like that.

Yeah, the same for me with 10,000 Days. Ahh, that's a hard question, it's difficult to choose only one! But after thinking well, my absolute fav song would be Schism. I love it!
Then, very closely would follow The Grudge and Eulogy.

LadyStephanny In reply to DoveStation [2018-03-02 15:59:15 +0000 UTC]
Awesome choices. I actually kind of learned how to play the bassline from Schism but could only do it like once or maybe twice in a row before fucking it up. My brother once said the thing about Tool is that each member of the band is the best at what they do and I can't argue with that.

Absolutely. Did I tell you about how I think I might have saw Maynard in the crowd at a Tool show in Melbourne in 2001? They say he likes to disguise himself and walk amoung the fans before a show. The openers were The Melvins and when they finished, the crowd had finished applauding and everything went quiet one person yelled "Melvins Rule!" and I cracked up laughing cause it just seemed so random. This guy swung around and looked at me and me and I looked at him an then double took cause he looked familiar and the dude bailed. Don't know if it was him for sure but it's a good story I think. Sorry for the late reply. My computer was broken and I only plucked up the courage to fix it last night.

DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-03-22 23:01:04 +0000 UTC]
OMG Really?? I didn't know Maynard likes to disguise and walking among the crowd! Hahaha that's such a funny anecdote!
I'd like to believe it was Maynard, it makes things even more hilarious!
So how was the Tool concert? I imagine they were awesome. APC is doing a summer tour around Europe this year and they'll come to Spain. I'm thinking on seeing them, I live in Portugal and Spain is the closest country I have where they'll perform but it's going to be quite an investment just to see them. I also don't like the fact that it's going to be a festival, I'd prefer an APC solo show.
And I don't have any experience going to big concerts/festivals, on top of that.
Ah, don't worry for late replies! Glad you could fix your computer!

They are just as good live as they are on the record. Maynard can pull of that massive roar he does in The Grudge perfect live. The visuals on the screen were trippy and cool and after the intermission they introduced contortionists. They dropped them down from the roof and we thought they were just dummies but they eventually dropped them all the way down to the stage and they did their thing while the band played. Seriously mind blowing shit. Man, I don't blame you for being a bit unsure. Does Portugal give stiffed on gigs much?

DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-03-25 22:01:36 +0000 UTC]
Oh wow, that must be awesome! Though I must confess I don't like Tool visuals most of the time, especially those that are weird dark animations like in the Sober video, it creeps the hell out of me! I'm good with the fractal stuff and the Lateralus type of art, but no weird animations for me plz.
OMG Contortionists?? Now that's interesting!! Never heard of something like that before!
Well, I can't say much about concerts here because I've never been to big concerts/festivals. They brought famous bands like Depeche Mode and Red Hot Chili Peppers last year, many big/popular bands stop by for concerts/festivals but I would only go to a concert if it's a band that I really love and the ones I like are not that popular so they don't come here, they end their tours at Spain. I don't blame Tool or A Perfect Circle for that, though. It's quite clear they don't have a big enough fanbase here so maybe that's why they don't come. My third favorite is Interpol and they are known here, they have played several times before but they haven't come since I started living here, though they did have a couple concerts in Spain last year.

That sucks. I'm sorry.
I've only been to 4 concerts cause I'm not much of a people person. Smashing Pumpkins, Tool twice (although the second time I had to leave cause the heat in standing section was too much) and a Australian pop/punk band called Jebediah which my step sister took me too for my birthday. Funnily enough I'd see them again when they opened for Smashing Pumpkins. The Pumpkins were great but it was during Billy's rock is dead phase where they refused to play any of their heavy songs and the crowd started to turn on them a bit before the end of the night so they tried to play Zero to appease them but couldn't because James had left the stage cause, as I later found out, he was too drunk to continue. Tool were the best and were so loud that even though I was standing at the back the pure force of their song felt like someone was lightly drumming on my chest. My brother was in the pit and my brother told me it was so intense his friend threw up. Reminded me of the universe's loudest band bit from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-04-04 22:36:56 +0000 UTC]
Wow, 4 concerts sounds like a lot to me! I don't do well in crowds and I suffer from social/generalized anxiety so that's another reason why I don't go to these places. So James (James Iha)?? was too drunk to keep playing??
That kinda sucks... Oh btw, I read the news that James Iha will be touring with SP so he won't be able to play with APC in the upcoming tour. They already have a replacement for him and it seems the guy is good too.
OMG I can't imagine how the drums must feel in a Tool concert, it must be epic. Maybe too much for me. Excuse my ignorance but what is "the pit"? Is it that area where a bunch of people go crazy and shove/hit each other and stuff?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LadyStephanny In reply to DoveStation [2018-04-07 10:44:39 +0000 UTC]
The excuse from Billy was he ate a bad duck but someone told me later on he was too drunk to continue. Pretty hyped about the SP reunion. Shame D'Arcy won't be part of it. She seems a bit off the rails these days. Important part is James, Jimmy and Billy are involved. Yeah, that's the pit. Not sure what they call it these days. I'm old. Lol. Yeah, it looked pretty intense there so I just chilled at the back. A friend of mine was in there and got thrown about a bit and tried to get up on stage. Lol.

Yeah, me either. I stood up the back and could see and hear everything just fine. Was good to just stand back and take it all in. One concert I didn't go to which I regret was a triple bill featuring Kittie supported by In This Moment and another band I can't remember the name of. I'm a big fan of those two so it would have been a dream bill for me.

No, I didn't realise it was out yet. I'll have to get on that. I find some albums are like that. Took me a few listens to fully appreciate Father John Misty's Pure Comedy cause it was such a tonal shift from his previous album. Now I love it.

Yeah, it also happens to me, though most of the times if I listen to a song for the first time and I really don't like it, that won't change with time. In fact, I will always skip said song so there won't be second chances for it to grow on me.

Hey, sorry it's been so long. My cat was very sick. He passed away today. You know I used to hate the song The Imploding Voice from Smashing Pumpkins' Machina but I listened to it recently went it came up on random on my computer (I have every Pumpkins song on there) and I kind of got into it. I wonder if some songs have a time and a place.

Hi! Oh no, I'm so sorry for your cat. Losing a pet is so painful... But he must be in a better, peaceful and happy place now. I've lost several pets in the past and thinking they are not suffering anymore helped me to ease the pain a bit.
Well, that's interesting, and I think you're right that we are able to appreciate some songs better in different circumstances. Liking songs I used to hate still has not happened to me yet, but it has happened that songs that I underappreciated or didn't quite care for the lyrics suddenly resonate with me, and it's like "yeah, now I understand what the lyrics mean" and I end up liking them more.

I don't know if I mentioned this but I was like that with Father John Misty's album Pure Comedy. It's amazing the feelings certain songs can make you feel too. Some songs remind me of times, places and people. I just realised I still have to listen to the new APC. How are you liking it now?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-06-04 17:59:01 +0000 UTC]
Oh yes, totally. I even avoid listening to certain songs/bands because of the memories they bring.
Hahaha LOL I haven't listened to it again since the first time I've been super busy and I usually listen to new albums by night on earphones to appreciate better the songs. So I haven't had the time/will for that these days. But that actually says a lot. It means I don't feel particularly excited about the new songs except for a few. I think the new sound, lectures and political lyrics turned me down a bit.
Also, I'm more on a chill out mood right now, and it's what my brain likes to listen lately.
But I hope to give it some listens to the new album soon, at least so that I can learn the songs I really liked.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LadyStephanny In reply to DoveStation [2018-06-12 09:55:43 +0000 UTC]
I hear that. I get into the political stuff a fair bit but at the end of the day when I want to chill and listen to an album or watch a movie I don't want to hear all that shit. Makes me less excited to listen to it knowing that. I don't mind it so much when they take shots at both sides like Father John Misty did in Pure Comedy but not a lot of people show that kind of nuance sadly. What kinds of things do you do to relax?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DoveStation In reply to LadyStephanny [2018-06-16 00:20:37 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, though I must admit a bit of social/political criticism can deliver a good message for the masses if done right and I like that. I think that's what APC tried to do with this new album, and it's not the first time they do it anyways. One of my favorite songs from them is Pet/Counting bodies like sheep after all so I can enjoy that stuff too. I've been listening to the album lately and I'm getting used to the style after overcoming the initial shock
My absolute favorite song is still Feathers but now I'm really enjoying Hourglass, Get the lead out and So long and thanks for all the fish
I actually like the whole album except for one song: Delicious. It has become that kind of song I skip over. I think the rest of the songs will grow on me the more I listen to them.
Ah, I still remember the first time I listened to the Thirteen step album. I was fascinated song after song, it was mindblowing to me and so full of emotions. I was so excited to listen to it almost daily. I missed those feelings with this album but I won't complain, the guys did a great work. Hell, Feathers and Billy Howerdel's amazing riffs make the whole album worthy for me.
Well, to relax my first choice is listening to music that will make my brain calm down, which is usually chill out music with nice lyrics/melodies. If I'm tired, then I'll read manga/watch anime before sleep. If I have free time, then I draw traditionally/paint digitally. Other things I do to help me deal with stress is doing yoga, going to walk in the park and playing with my cat!

I really need to get around to it. Maynard seems like a reasonable bloke so I'm sure it will be fine. I like Counting Bodies better than Pet. There's just something cool about. Thirteen Step was a strange first listen. It's so much more tender than Mer de Noms. It has it's rockers but most of the songs are more on the quiet side. I do prefer it to Mer de Noms though.
