I have to say it! This pic makes me look oddly toothy, but it's just the angle. Okay, so the hair's longer by a few inches now... but yes, this is me.

Short Bio:
What to say? I began writing at the tender age of five, dashing off little poems in a Composition notebook which I still have today. It always seemed clear that my future would be in the liberal arts, and so it was. After earning a Bachelor's and Master's in English Literature, I taught literature and writing skills for five years at a private university. Doing so had been my dream, and it was a pleasure. It also allowed me to further focus in spare time on my favorite writers, the Lake Poets of the English Romantic era, and on other authors close to my heart such as Frost, Gibran, Thomas, Yeats, Twain, Poe, Hemmingway and naturally Shakespeare. Yet the academic world is quite insulated, and eventually I sought more.
Time and circumstance led me to the world of newspapers and advertising, where succinct wording combined with art impact equals success. Within that vigorous world (and having inherited my father's picky-engineer-type brain), I was drawn to the minutiae of advertising systems and became a Systems Manager, happily responsible for the words of 50+ users in a 100+ newspaper group. It was an amazing interface of boardroom, technical and interpersonal experience shot through with the adrenaline of deadlines and business life.
Health issues rear-ended that career path. This year I return to literature in general and writing in particular, my first loves. Poetry of meter, of rhyme, of sensation, comes naturally to me in bursts; my brain loves iambic pentameter, and my goal is to capture feelings, human nature, sensations that arise from within inspired by the natural world and external events. Experimenting with Free and Short Verse is more challenging.
Flexing the mental sinews of style, form and function once again is simultaneously frightening and like coming home... so be gentle with me, if you will.
