Thank you very much for exploring my photos! The ones you commented on are some of my favs as well! Your own work is *amazing*! The most memorable for me are the ones of Robert...you can see a world of experience in his whole being in your photos.

I've been away from DA for a while, but would like to post some more...I have more from Malaysia as well as the Congo that I would like to share. I'm traveling to Washington DC next week though, so it will have to be when I get back.

I'm in the picture with Mukendi (my brother). the one who went in canada.
You will see me in the middle. the other guy beside, is Kalonji, my cousin.

Hi! I just sent you a note and then saw you had commented here. Yes I remember you! And Kalonji! Although I forgot his name until now. I do remember Mukendi. So did you move to Canada also? Are you a physician now?

I am a professor (Social Work) and work in youth development (parent training, teacher training, etc.).

I mentioned in my note to you that it would be enormously helpful if you could correct any errors I have here in names, etc. My memory is hazy from those days.

Also, I have lots of photos from then that I can send you either electronically or as prints if you like.

yes I'm a family physician in Ottawa. My brother Mukendi practice as dentist here as well.
I told him the story and show him the picture. what a surprise!

thnx for making it...

...it struck a chord in me...my wife visited my DA page recently and chided me on posting photos from my past...saying to look forwards not backwards...do more now.

I agree, and have posted some recent works as well, and it is a poor sort of memory that only looks backwards. But for me--with a tenuous hold on the events and people of my own past--and in difference to the queens of hearts---it is meaningful somehow.

thanks very much for the kind note. i was happy to have found and been able to restore the negatives...and in working on them was drawn to wonder about the life my mother lead before being a mom. she seemed so bright and happy in those photos....it was good to see.

i was introduced to your work in looking through Frank's gallery, particularly through your collaboration on "blinds after a slow night"....i find your work really intriguing, and have been exploring it since...happily this will take a while.
