Neeble In reply to Miragehedgehog [2012-12-25 22:29:11 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome, and I very much agree with your article. Personally, I'm anti-feminist because I wish to someday soon become a teacher. Being male, I realize how dangerous and toxic of an environment that could be for me, but I wish to be a positive male role model for so many of those boys being taught and brought up in that dangerous and toxic environment.

DonnaBarr In reply to Neeble [2012-12-14 17:22:51 +0000 UTC]

My fave is traditional + digital. I love all the art toys, and have since 1954. I don't know which I love better - a really nice #2 pencil and #2 round brush, or a fast, clean coloring program.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Neeble In reply to DonnaBarr [2012-12-15 05:46:37 +0000 UTC]

I've always adored traditional art, though I'm warming up to digital art. I just need to make a serious effort to learn. But I've never been able to get into coloring very comfortably. D: Any advice to give to a pseudo-colorblind hobbyist, or do I just need to experiment with colors more?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DonnaBarr In reply to Neeble [2012-12-15 18:26:43 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I love all the toys. I might almost warn you about digital coloring - once you start, it's so much fun it's addictive! I will say that I recommend keeping it simple. I think of the Erase Function (used against a white background) as a white brush. I use GIMP, too. A lot of people go "eh!" because it's like all open source - it was horrible at first, but it improves all the time. And it's free and talks to PC and Mac, and doesn't seem to have a lot of artifacts. Think of it as simple Photoshop for artists. Now.... have I created a monster? I hope so!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Neeble In reply to DonnaBarr [2012-12-15 22:40:35 +0000 UTC]

Hm. I used GIMP the first time I started making digital art a couple years ago, but didn't like it very much. I'll give it another look now that I have a better idea about what's going on and what I like. Thanks!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DonnaBarr In reply to Neeble [2012-12-16 17:33:50 +0000 UTC]

Try it now. It's always improving. It's free - can't hurt! It's like OpenOffice. When I tried to lay out 24 page comics years ago, it was All New Swearwords. Now I can lay out a 500 page collection with no problem. Supporting these sites just makes 'em better. Good luck!

A history of feminism looking only at the favorable parts doesn't seem like much of a motivation to join an anti-feminist group. If you had linked to something by girlwriteswhat or manwomanmyth I could understand, but I don't really see the relevance of this link.

I genuinely don't know. Sarcasam translates terribly through text.

DonnaBarr In reply to lordmep [2012-12-16 17:31:47 +0000 UTC]

Oh, we're all having great fun watching the anti-feminist movement. It's mostly driven by guys who get pissed off about child support. Guys had words for those guys in the 19th century: "Cad." And "Bounder." Somebody I know just treated his wife of 16 years like a free sex slave - then posted bondage snuff art on DA and bought an AR 15. Oh, they're lovely, these guys. Or cads, as an earlier generation of guys would have called them.

lordmep In reply to DonnaBarr [2012-12-17 00:02:02 +0000 UTC]

For future reference, I tend to only use sarcasam with people I know. Just the same, you are free to watch us and comment to your heart's content. I'd especially like to hear the comments of a newcommer.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DonnaBarr In reply to lordmep [2012-12-17 17:44:56 +0000 UTC]

From experience, I think these guys would like women something like: "Give her silicon tits and a lobotomy and let me pass on my DNA with no consequences before moving on to the next Breeding Vessel."

Note: you can use sarcasm with people if you use this afterwards: I'm one of the people helped invent emoticons in the 1970's, so I know how to use 'em.

And no, it wasn't on computers. We invented URL addresses, too.
