Happy turkey day, Ells! I hope you and your fam have a great one!

p.s. One thing I am thankful for today - people like you and everyone in our military who is brave and strong and willing to fight for my freedoms here at home. HEAR! HEAR!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Neovolatile In reply to Miss-Minerva-Sage [2007-11-30 16:51:51 +0000 UTC]

Your freedoms here at home are being stolen by supposed leaders who never were in the military. These "chickenhawks" are using an attack to justify taking away our Constitution and the Amendments. We are not fighting for your freedom in Iraq or Afghanistan. Sadly, we are fighting to bring profit to the companies like Blackwater and Halliburton.

Miss-Minerva-Sage In reply to Neovolatile [2007-12-02 00:19:43 +0000 UTC]

You know full well that I was trying to say thank you and give you a compliment, not say that I support the war or what the government is doing. There's no need to be antagonistic.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Neovolatile In reply to Miss-Minerva-Sage [2007-12-02 04:07:30 +0000 UTC]

You can choose to take what I perceive as the truth to be antagonistic. I did not fight for your freedom. I never did. That is the sad truth. No one lately has done much to fight for your freedom. Thank you for liking me, but do not like me for fighting for your freedom is what I am saying.

And OMG, what lies we are being told and so many believe! How many *STILL* believe that Iraq had something to do with the attack on 9-11? They had nothing at all to do with it! The Saudiis certainly did. How many *STILL* believe we found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq or Afghanistan? We did not!

I would have served better had I protested war more, if I had not gone. Instead, I was a coward and was coerced into being part of a war machine that burned people to death. That is what I did. Chemical Corp. Elementus Regulus Pro Eleum (let us rule the battle by means of the elements) I think is how it was spelled, the Army Chemical Corp motto. Or more succinctly, "Napalm sticks to kids!"

Your sig says "You're the one who can put out the fire." I hope someone can. The magic I have seen and helped sow only starts fires.

I am not antagonistic toward you. I just want people to wake up. In the midst of all of this, I was tortured. You know how long it took the VA to recognize my broken knee was Service Connected? 30 years. The PTSD? Oh, polite families don't talk about that. So, you are welcome. I am glad you do not support the war. I hope you speak out vocally against the war. I am trying to do so. Notice?

Respectfully submitted,
Ellsworth Weaver

Miss-Minerva-Sage In reply to Neovolatile [2007-12-02 16:25:45 +0000 UTC]

I do try to speak out against the war and it's machines whenever I can, Ells. But to me, it's just as important to me that I tell you and all of the Americans who have served this country, for whatever reasons, that their sacrifices are greatly appreciated. I am truly sorry that you feel so used in this, but I do not believe that you are a coward by any means. It takes bravery for you to continue to speak about it even now.

I do not like you because you were a soldier - I like you for YOU, but I respect and admire you because you were a soldier. And I also admire the man that you are regardless of or maybe because of the things that you have been through. What I am saying is that it does not come down to that one thing, but it is part of what makes you Ells.

Additionally, I did not send my initial message to be provocative in any way. I believe it is down to each one if us to be involved, to be vocal, to be proactive in getting things changed - it will take ALL of us (or at least 51%) coming together to affect change. To insist that the truth is told, to insist that we are served by our government, to insist that this war (all war) is wrong. I think that we, as a people, are going to have to evolve very soon and change a lot of things in this country and even in the world. Hopefully more people feel this way, too.

So perhaps it would have been more appropriate for me to say: Thank you for protecting my privileges and thank you for your sacrifice. But really, Ells; I was just trying to show you some love, not to start a debate. I honestly do not like to debate. No offense meant.

Conciliatorily yours,
~A
