Yeah, I was surprised myself. I didn't think they'd include him at all in the remainder of season 6 since he left, but I guess since it was a big season finale, they decided to put in a little Easter egg/cameo.
Now, hopefully we get to see him again in a major role in the future, maybe in the movie or season 7.

Is it just me or does the new season of MLP seem very quiet on Spike's part? Sure, he's appeared in literally almost every episode where the Mane Six did, but I'm still feeling a bit of Spike withdrawal. I just hope "Princess Spike", if what the suggestions of the rumors about the episode lineup are true, isn't the only Spike-centered episode this season.
heck, I'd love for him to have a prominent part where he's not the central focus of the episode. And I'm still waiting for a legit solo from him that's not cringe worthy.

lol, actually, life's been very busy lately. Started a full-time position last month doing tech support work for a very small company. Just went to see my family last week (first time I saw them since I moved away last year), and it was great to see everyone. I plan to do more traveling next year (not just for San Diego).

Hey, do you think S4 of MLP is lacking compared to previous seasons? And I don't mean in terms of Spike's characterization. I mean, overall.

At times, even when Spike appeared, I felt like the season hasn't been as strong as the previous ones. The season premiere wasn't as amazing as the last two. The biggest problem was how Spike's treatment, but I also felt that Twilight hasn't done that much, either. I also don't like the direction Spitfire is going as a character. However, it looks like the final episodes may really boost my opinion of Season Four. I still enjoy the show, but this season, I felt like maybe the show is past its peak a bit. We'll see.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but I'm starting to think the writers don't give two craps about Spike. They've legit pretended he doesn't exist in three episodes so far and pretty much demoted him to sidekick or something.

I will say this -- I actually like Season Four less than the first three seasons of the show so far, and I have to wonder if FIM is past its peak. I totally hear ya on how the character has been treated so far, and I'd be lying if I said it didn't negatively impact my interest in the show. Even though it's mostly about how Spike has been written this season, I'd say even Twilight (as much as she's appeared) hasn't really done as much as the other five. Some of the show's greatest moments have been the chemistry between the two characters, and we've seen very little of the two together. Right now, if I had to critique the new writers for the show, I'd say Josh Haber has done the best job handling Spike. For the most part, it seems like Spike has been treated as a stranger or has grown apart from the six friends. That's really hard for me to ignore, especially when you have (a) character(s) that you're really enjoying and don't like how he/she/they (is/are) being handled.

That aside, I am starting to wonder if Meghan pretty much lied to me when it came to Spike getting as much love this season as he did in the last one and if they ARE pulling a season 2.

Hopefully, it's not going to be like how we were expected a Rarity episode last season, and that never materialized. I still have some hope, albeit less so than I did before.
