This is probably the first pokemon art tournament that I had ever seen. There's been a million, with some of the best pokemon fanart ever, since then.

I just want to say, when I was a sniveling 15-year-old (like 6 years ago), this tournament and the whole community involved in it, was the greatest thing to happen to me. Β I met so many role models here. Β It was humbling. Β I could even say it kickstarted my career as an illustrator. Β Thanks for being a thing, PCBC. Β
I was the one with the mary-sue character and the OP shiny charmander. Β

Will there be a PCBC 4, including Kalos this time? I probably personally would not enter, but it'd be a sight to spectate!

And so one of the final Titans, Zeurel, finishes his act in this great play of PCBC, now we must only wait for the finale brought upon by the Teenage Artist, then we shall see who takes the final PCBC crown and will go down as the King of PCBC3!

Hello!! I've just discovered this little shindig, and frankly, I love it!! However I can't seem to find much information about it... do you do this yearly?? Because if you'd do, I'd love to participate next year!! And what do I need to be prepared for it?
π: 0 β©: 2
PCBC In reply to brittninja [2011-12-02 23:20:33 +0000 UTC]
Heyo, this will most likely be the last one on the PCBC account, BUT there will be more very much like it hosted by in the future, seeing as all the admins are from there.
Watch there for more information!

PCBC In reply to ShoelessCosmonaut [2011-12-03 00:45:02 +0000 UTC]
Pretty much what white rabbit said, any more tournaments an' we feel like we're starting to beat a dead horse. We wanna let people, including ourselves ~*~branch out and try new things~*~
Plus there's always another tournament of the pokemon variety going on somewhere, End Run being a good example.

ShoelessCosmonaut In reply to PCBC [2011-12-03 02:39:34 +0000 UTC]
Makes sense, though I'll still be sad to see it end. PCBC seems to offer its competitors the most freedom story-wise when compared to other pokemon OCTs.

PCBC In reply to ShoelessCosmonaut [2011-12-03 21:26:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I'm personally calling an end to this since pokemon OCTS are pretty much dead in the grave right now. will occasionally hold small contests and mini-tournaments much more in the spirit of PCBC than the more roleplay-based OCTs floating about, so I HIGHLY suggest going there if you still hunger for them mon battles.

Dead in the grave? Why do you say that? (Sorry if that comes across as rude, I'm genuinely curious since I've only recently taken up the OCT circuit.)
I will check out IPL though, thanks!

PCBC In reply to ShoelessCosmonaut [2011-12-04 03:07:42 +0000 UTC]
I think what Tofu is saying is that they're not as popular as they once were, but I think this is a matter of opinion myself. Motivation to run them from an admin point of view is dying a little, but from what I can see; people are still very much interested in Pokemon OCT's, especially if they're a little different.
Take for example. Its set in a WW2 type era and its pokemon based, and it has a huge following. Its all a matter of opinion in the end, and you really have to look around and make up your own mind. Calling them dead in the grave though, is a little dramatic.

PCBC In reply to PCBC [2011-12-04 18:13:13 +0000 UTC]
But it's the truth, mannnnnn! Both on the participant and admin side! Huge following doesn't nessesarily mean "going to be successful", or "will have lots of comics and art churned out consistantly for it aaaaaaaa
but this is just the view of an oldtimer
also we are not affiliated with End-Run and in no way are promoting it, as per the decisions of several people. Point 'em at IPL instead, please.

He got part of it right, although to go into it would open up a huge can of worms that doesn't have any right being on our front page. I can talk via chat about it, or converse via notes about it.
Also, PCBC is in no way supportive or affiliated with End-Run, due to reasons that again, would have to be taken to chat or notes.

I have no idea. My guess it's alot of work and they have done 2 contests in the past three or two years. So they will just no longer be holding these contests anymore.

PCBC In reply to Mad-Plot-Bunny [2011-12-03 21:41:33 +0000 UTC]
The official reason is that PCBC's had a good run, but if you overdo too much of a good thing, it gets stagnant and you kill the good things about it. PCBC inspired a lot of Pokemon OCTs in turn, but even the whole idea of the Pokemon Fan OCT is kind of dead and dying. I'm actually more set on running original OCTs again, so I'll still be running OCTs--just not PCBC. The rest of the PCBC admin team has graciously decided to humor the wishes of myself and the original PCBC admin team and not try to boot it up again after I leave PCBC, too.

Mad-Plot-Bunny In reply to PCBC [2011-12-03 21:55:09 +0000 UTC]
I suspected that reason and believe me, I agree. I'd just wished I'd joined sooner to at least either one or two of either contests. But yeah, you guys had such a great run! Thanks for making the third one so awesome.
