# About me
I love photoshopping. It's my life. I mostly like to make Space pictures from scratch; stars, planets, nebulae.. ya know. I'm a more photo-realism artist, so I try to make my pictures as realistic as I can, and that only depends on how much time I spend on making a picture. Most of my really good pictures take around 3 to 5 hours to make... but it's allll worth it in the end.

yeah man, your work is awesome. I plan to do astrophotography the rest of my life. lol I don't have too much of it up now and my work is not that great yet cause I don't have the best equipment right now. Just my Celestron Nexstar 6SE and my SLR basically. I think the next thing I plan on getting is the German EQ. EQ tracking is very necessary as opposed to alt/az tracking. lol I won't have that kind of money for a while though... >.<

the ecuatorial mount is the essence of the astrophotography ....the more expensive is, more good it is .... so, do not be sorry to spend money on an good german EQ mount
keep up!

This, I know. lol I just don't really have much of an income right now. And I'm transferring to another school for fall semester. The good thing is they have an observatory there with about 6 domes and a bunch of imaging telescopes. I'm hoping to get ahold of one of those.

You've got some amazing art. I was wondering if you'd be willing to donate some of your artwork to be sold in a silent auction. All of the proceeds would go to building a school in rural Uganda. Check out my page for more info.

Hahaha thanks. My real passion is Astronomy (if my profile didn't give it away). Haha but I suck at math. Otherwise, I'd be an Astronomy Major. lol

Haha anytimeee. Astrophotography is my biggest passion. More than anything. I unfortunately don't have enough money to buy all the equipment for it. Right now I just have my Celestron SCT on an Alt/Az mount with my Olympus DSLR. I'm currently looking into buying a Canon 60D. Then sometime after that, I'll be looking into the German EQ mount. I may not have all the right equipment right now, but I spend my free time researching all the astrophotography techniques. I understand most of it. I have some of my own shots, but not on my dA. Just takes a while to upload all of them. I have them all on my facebook instead. lol

If your mount is alt az, you can start imaging!! All my astrophotos so far were taken with my Nexstar 8 SE WITH the factory mount!! If you align it properly you can get up to 30-40 second exposures. Just take a bunch and stack them.

PhotoshopAddict89 In reply to RayM0506 [2011-11-08 02:06:22 +0000 UTC]
Oh trust me, I've done tons of imaging. But it would be a lot easier with the equatorial mount. I have the Nexstar 6 SE. Also, I live in a very light polluted area. I stacked like, 90 shots of M42 and it didn't come out anywhere near how yours came out. lol Here's mine [link] Also, if its hard enough getting M42, I don't know how you're able to get an amazing shot of M31 with the alt az. You must live in a decently dark location. lol

Here is another REALLY good tutorial for DSS [link]

Well, I did everything the tutorial told me to for DSS, and this is what I got: [link] I had to post it on dA cause it was the only way to show you. Its clearly not as sharp. There is no nice flat background like the one in the tutorial. And its also very grainy. Pretty much how it came out last time I did it.

Ok but you don't have to use that image, you can use the raw image that is named autosave. Or after you adjust the image you can save it as stacked image and choose NOT top apply the settings. When you d this the colors and everything you did are in the file you just have to bring them out in Photoshop.

PhotoshopAddict89 In reply to RayM0506 [2011-11-09 06:09:44 +0000 UTC]
Yeah well, last time I checked, it doesn't let me open the Autosave file in photoshop.. =\
π: 0 β©: 1
RayM0506 In reply to PhotoshopAddict89 [2011-11-09 15:55:09 +0000 UTC]
Hmmm, lets me open them in CS 2. What you do is open the file, Select all, cut, close the file, select new open a blank document and then paste. PS will not let you alter the autosave because DSS locks it. When you cut and then paste the autosave into a new doc it unlocks it and you can do all the altering you want.

PhotoshopAddict89 In reply to RayM0506 [2011-11-10 03:45:53 +0000 UTC]
It says it can't open the autosave in PS because there is not enough RAM. I have 8G RAM and no matter how many programs I close, it still says the same thing. It only does it with Autosave files..

What was the dither setting in DSS??? Make sure that you do not use it unless the object is small. I used 0 dithering for large objects, like M-42, M-31 and x2 dithering for M-27, M-57. I have had the same problem with x3 dithering. WHat the dithering does is increase the file size. It is the same algorythm that JPL uses to increas the size of the image and not lose any detail. When used it GREATLY increases the file size making it a monster to load.

I believe you are talking about "Drizzle"? And I know that drizzle makes the file size bigger. I also have that set to none.

Haha its alright. I just have bad luck with astrophotography I guess... lol Another thought could be the fact that my graphics card is integrated. Its not its own card. Thats about the only thing that sucks with my computer. lol

Yeah, I hear that! There might be another way. I have seen turorials on stacking in PS. Google it and see what you can find.If I can dig up any of them I will post you the links.
