Okay, last sappy comment for now, I promise - and I won't do 3k+ words like I did on the results journal.
PTB has been a truly magical experience.Ā I walked in a nervous high school student with rapidly declining grades, little-to-no faith in my writing ability, and low hopes for myself.
I leave as a confident, happy soon-to-be animation student about to run his own OCT, who has regrets regarding his run here but is MORE than ready to give writing another shot and outdo himself.Ā Crystal Island, here I come.

While I will be keeping up to date, when the OCT finishes and the winner announced, could I get a heads-up so I can get my prize donation for the winner ready?

hi, I was wondering if this OCT was beginner friendly? I've only ever done one audition before but I ended up going against a lot of people that have been doing oct's for a long time.

So far we've had a good number a new folks popping around so you should be able to get a match up that fits your level. Not to mention we'll be doing our best to help everyone improve and have a good time be they pro or otherwise. Hopefully we'll be an OCT to suit your needs.

I'm back with another question haha! Are we allowed to get character references looked over before the official audition acceptance date? Just a general: "yup they look fine" or "no these things need to be changed" so that everything's approved when I start on the audition (which I had planned to get on soonish)?

We're not going to be judging character reference sheets, only auditions so as long as your sheet gives other competitors enough information on your character to write them it should be fine.
If you're looking for some feedback to make sure it does that, you're welcome to drop us a note and we'll give it a look.

Oh man, I want to join this so ding dong darn badly! ;0; I saw you responded pretty recently to some comments about the group, but I'm paranoid (I've joined several groups in the past that just... never started up) so I hope it's not a bother if I ask whether or not you guys are still planning to run the tournament?
I'm not trying to be rude, I swear! I know exactly what characters I would use for this, but I'm afraid to get their references and audition completed only to learn that the group died off. >^<

There are indeed still plans to get this OCT running. The current thought is sometime early 2019.

Also I was wondering, do you know a vague time of when this OCT will be starting? I know these things take a while, and that you probably don't have an exact time frame. I don't mean to rush you at all, I was just wondering.Ā

It's no problem. There's no strict time frame but odds are we'll be back early 2019 depending on how things go.

Hi, I'm really interested in this, it has a ton of personality to it and I really dig the concept. However, I have just one question: is the Audition going to have any specific requirements contestants will need to meet, other than getting into the Void? I'm asking because I'm wanting to take the time between now and Audition openings to plan my audition, but there is really no point in doing that if I don't have all the pieces.

Hello. Thank you, we're glad you like the group. Open creativity is the name of the game so the only audition requirement is to get your character to the void. We'll look forward to seeing what you come up with once the group reopens.

if we're doing a written entry, we still have to have a drawn ref, don't we.

If you're doing a written entry, you're required to have a visual ref however it does not have to be drawn by you. You can ask a friend to make you one or find someone who takes commissions for them as long as you credit them in the description.
