I'm glad you think so! This was my way of dealing with sadness that I felt when I heard about the endings. I'm working on the second chapter right now and hope to have it done by tonight. I hope it will continue to please you.

Also if you have any questions about it, don't hesitate to ask. Sometimes I get ahead of myself and don't clarify as well as I should.

Retro-Zombies In reply to keokotheshadowfang [2012-03-20 00:44:17 +0000 UTC]

I completely understand. I've been considering on doing the same or draw something to ease the sadness.

I may have missed it, but is this based off of a particular ending "choice" or no?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

keokotheshadowfang In reply to Retro-Zombies [2012-03-20 00:48:57 +0000 UTC]

It actually is. If you choose the "Destroy" option and have your military strength so high, then there is an extra little scene that shows Shepard gasp for air.

I didn't want to take the chance of Bioware NOT releasing new endings, so I decided I would start my story at their ending, but add onto it show that so long Shep is still alive, she WILL keep fighting to undo the damaged caused by the reapers (most notably fixing the problem of the mass relays destruction).

Retro-Zombies In reply to keokotheshadowfang [2012-03-20 01:12:17 +0000 UTC]

I was just wondering because I've seen some people diverge from the endings and go their own way. I just didn't want to assume anything so I figured I'd just ask.

It's hard to say what Bioware will do. It was a good idea to do the story now, though. If Bioware does give us something, this story will have been sort of a filler till then. If not, then it's my only hope XD.

I so agree with that, and I think that's one of things that angered me the most. Shepard defies the odds and impossibility of situations multiple times yet she just takes what she gets at the end? To me, it looks like they set up the ending to continue after she gasps but left it at that for whatever reason.

Either way, this post made no sense and your story is good XD.

keokotheshadowfang In reply to Retro-Zombies [2012-03-20 01:55:34 +0000 UTC]

No, it's a good question! I wanted to use as much as what bioware gave us. This was done as a piece of my denial pie that I've been feeding myself. I've been looking for reasons to WHY bioware would end it the way that they did. I don't want to think that they did this INTENTIONALLY to mess with our mind. I didn't expect the perfect ending that a lot of people were hoping for. Most of bioware stories left me sad for one reason or another. But they weren't this hopeless.

What made me mad is that I spent over 100+ hours to get the perfect Shepard, the one that would save our galaxy from this evil threat by being a paragon. I honestly thought they were going to seriously punish the renegade players. After all it seemed like most of their options would result in Shepard pissing off the whole galaxy. Anyways I did all this because I wanted to feel like it was worth it in the end. Not have a cheap last minute decision that decides the galaxy's fate.

I thought your post made sense and thank you

Retro-Zombies In reply to keokotheshadowfang [2012-03-20 02:56:03 +0000 UTC]

I would have liked a happy ending but I would've understood a sad one if it actually made sense. I would've been upset (because I am selfish and want Shepard to live) but I would have been able to tolerate it more.

I thought the same thing, to be honest because, like you said, a lot of the renegade dialogue/interrupts result in Shepard pissing people off. The game was starting to lean towards the idea of seriously punishing renegade players and rewarding paragon players. But, in the end everyone just gets screwed over.

Glad you think so. I tend to ramble, repeat things, and not make sense XD and no problem~!

It's true. I am grateful that there is even an ending that Shep is still alive, though. Because, that means they didn't shut the door for future DLC. If you've ever played Fallout 3, you'd know that the ending was originally that your character dies, later Bethesda released DLC that changes that. I'm praying that is what happens here.

Yeah, I guess in a way life is kind of like that. But knowing all that, Bioware should give us an option to sit on a beach and just screw around with our LI. It's not like it makes much of a difference anyways.

Nah, I do the same. It's great to find people who listen to my rantings and even provide comments of their own.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Retro-Zombies In reply to keokotheshadowfang [2012-03-20 14:21:18 +0000 UTC]

True and yeah, I've played Fallout 3. It did the same exact thing as ME3 did. I think Bioware will /have/ to release an end-changing DLC if they want to even consider on releasing any other kinds of DLC. Like Bethesda; if they never released that DLC, then players would have been forced to start a new game to play any of the other DLC's. That alone would've been a slap to the face.

Definitely. I really want a happy ending with our LI. They both have gone through enough in the past three games and I think they deserve some happiness.

It is! I'm glad you (and others) actually respond to me and provide input. My "real life" friends don't really care for hearing me ramble about it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

keokotheshadowfang In reply to Retro-Zombies [2012-03-20 21:06:06 +0000 UTC]

It really would have been. I didn't have the broken steel add on when I first started the game and I avoided the main quest and tended to faff about in the wasteland pretending there was no main questline (Which was fun, but you can't do that in mass effect. You run out of things to do.) I like it because for the people who want the ending to be where they die, let them die, but most of us want to live!

Agreed. I was satisfied with the romance in ME, I was let down by ME2 but it kept me going that in ME3 they would make it up to the fans!

I hear you. None of my real life friends like Mass Effect (or any of the games I like, save for Skyrim) and so I don't really have anyone to vent to.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Retro-Zombies In reply to keokotheshadowfang [2012-03-20 21:31:28 +0000 UTC]

I didn't have Broken Steel either when I first started playing, but it didn't exactly matter since there was so much you could do besides the main questline. Like you said though, you can't really do that in Mass Effect. I do like that there were options to either live or die, and I'm hoping that kind of follows through with the Mass Effect DLC (if there is one). The problem I'm finding is that there are actually quite a few people that think Shepard dying at the end is the best closure to the series.

Definitely. It was the same for me. I am glad that they did deliver on some aspects of romances in ME3 (except for Garrus, apparently. Those fans still get the short end of the stick from what I gather), but it all seems pointless because of the ending.

Sadly, that's how it is. I find it easier to talk to people via internet about games because there's a better level of understanding.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

keokotheshadowfang In reply to Retro-Zombies [2012-03-20 21:50:31 +0000 UTC]

I can understand that. But with fallout 3, those people can die if they want. Their choice. I want Shep to live. If there is even a remote chance that she is alive (Which bioware proves with that ten second clip) then she WILL keep fighting. I don't think it offers any closure. It makes room for a new hero to take the stand, but it effectively cripples the series. NO ONE has been able to do what Shepard did. NO ONE will be able to do what Shepard did. Every other person they through into the series will only walk in her shadow.

Haha, I was going to say Jacob lovers get the short end of the stick. At least Garrus lovers get SOMETHING. xD

It really is. I'm a better writer then a speaker. I can more clearly communicate my thoughts through writing.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Retro-Zombies In reply to keokotheshadowfang [2012-03-20 22:02:05 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. The way they set it up, it honestly seems like it isn't the last we'll hear from Shepard but the last time we'll hear of this story (if that makes any sense). You're right in that if they did bring in anyone new, they would just be shadowed by what Shepard did and will always be compared to her. So, they can't really get rid of Shepard.

Ahahahaha, oh that's so true. I completely forgot about that. I'm okay with Jacob having a child, if he wasn't a romance option. But the fact that it's the same regardless if you've romanced it or not is not cool (especially since they make Shepard completely okay with the fact that he cheated and is starting a family).

That's good that you are! I'm not really good at either, but I still like talking about stuff (even though I struggle through it ) XD.
