And just a side note, love the pix of the M3 Stuart. My father in law was shot out of an M3 Stuart in North Africa, at Kasserine Pass and lived... he did have a steel plate in his head afterward, but hey he made it. Β Β Β

I never new my Father in law, he had died before I met my wife,Kat. His name was George but his nick name was Trigger. I had only seen pictures of him when he was in the Army. Didn't know a lot about his service. From pictures, I could tell he was in the First Armored Div. /13th Armored Regiment. I hadΒ several pictures of him in a M3 Stuart and on an Army Harley, with Thomson sub machine gun in the scabbard!
One day, years ago, an old man came to our home and said he was looking for my wife. Turned out he was an old war buddy of Trigger and served with him in North Africa! We had a good visit, he had heard that Trigger was dead and just wanted to catch up on him and visit with his daughter. He is the one who told us about what happened at Kassrerine.Β
He said they were in a recon battalion together, but not in the same tank crew. He said the Trigger's tank was hit by an 88 and all the crew were killed except Trigger, who was blown completely out of the Stuart and severely wounded! he was treated in a North African Field hospital and when he didn't die from his wounds, he wound up back in the states, and spent nearly 3 years in the hospital recovering!! He lived another 23 years!
And yeah, there needs to be a decent movie made about the US actions in North Africa..

Yeah, you know that truth is always stranger than fiction! I have often wondered about the "88" part of the story myself. There would have been a lot of different caliber anti tank weapons firing during the battle. But hey, I wasn't there so it's not for me to say.

I'm burning hot on the idea of converting my Weird War II project to a board game. Found a company that will custom print almost anything you can imagine (boards, card decks, stickers, cutouts, etc..). So... finally doable given the time investment. But not a major conceptual re-format.Β Β
