New DeviantArt PSA+Feedback UpdateHey guys I know change is always an unwelcome thing when it comes to website updates. I know many of you have been dreading the impending Eclipse update to DA. What you guys need to try is the classic green color theme. Since its release I have found no need to ever return to the clunky old site. You can turn it on here under your username menu drop down. I know change is something that's easy to fear. I know there is a lot of fear mongering related to this. Many, many complaints about lack of functionality I have seen are because people just didn't try looking where the feature should be instead of where they were awkwardly shoved into the old UI. So much of the old DA is really cumbersome and awkward to use compared to other sites in 2020. DA is a 20 year old site and it really felt like it. Eclipse does not feel like that, it feels intuitive but you are probably just too used to the weird navigation quirks from yesteryear. I promise you, if you spend a little time with it and look at it as a website made this decade, it will feel great.tl;dr we got stockholm syndromed into thinking the old site was better than it was. Eclipse is actually just better.Check out how great Eclipse looks in its classic green theme.I cannot tell you how great it is to go to the front page and not see inflation fetish art or pony porn. They really did solve the problem with the "recommended for you setting".I also love the new profile pages. Look at how big the art is. It's great that an art site actually shows you art at a good size. I'm looking at you instagram, how so many artists adopted that site I'll never know, its shit quality for art.Please give it a chance. I'm not going anywhere, this is still my online home. I implore you guys to really try it out before jumping ship because change is scary.Update per your FeedbackI have read many of your feedbacks and one that keeps coming up is clearing out your notifications. What you are describing is basically a chore you have to do to participate on the site. Think about it, do you have to delete each notification on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook? No the notification number just goes away after you've look at them. That the goal here. It makes it so there is less work to be done and more just fun times looking at art.Another issue I have seen is relating to custom coding. I know a minority of you guys really like this feature. For me I never enjoyed it and felt it makes userpages look less professional or sometimes just harder to navigate. There is a bit of solution I have for you. You can create custom boxes on your profile page and then have images that are clickable links. I personally have mine set to look like below so you can easily click to my store site and find my products. It's not the same as custom coding but I think it's a more elegant and user friendly solution. I don't know shit about coding, but I know how to make an image and post a link.Also yes I hear you about groups. Groups need a major overhaul. They appear to be lower priority than other day to day functions of the site. So I would expect groups to be updated in the future, but right now they are what they are.
I am sorry, but if you really believe that a minority uses custom html code for their profiles it means that must have never bothered to take time to browse other arists' pages aside from your own and possibly your own circle of friends and associates.
Precisely which means that you cannot use it as a fact in a journal in which you try to show Eclipse's positive attritubes compared to the old ones. Facts are the key in a debate and facts say that the majority of people like it and use it. It's not an opinion.
Just because I am straight-forward and honest doesn't mean that I am rude. I might have used vulgar words but they were never directed towrds you.

y ikes. reading through the comments on that journal right now, and while yours was certainly on the confrontational side of things, i honestly think this user just needs a kick in the ass. their comments either praise people or tell them to submit feedback somewhere else, or, in your case, put people down.
and im really surprised more people arent talking about the whole stockholm syndrome thing. that was... wholly unnecessary. that's comparable to saying old dA has down syndrome compared to eclipse. people dont just say shit like that and get away with it :/

I like the idea of a banner and different color selections but the way they executed it is very poor and a copy of art-station.
