Divergences are good!  I love what-if stories that retain the characterization but go entirely new directions.  Thing is, though...
...Ange, depending on which continuity, could be portrayed as a villain.  She's strong-willed, but (I my opinion doesn't really change that much).  The first episode had her rant about exterminating normas.  In the end, despite her development, she still doesn't have a lot of empathy.  I could easily see her becoming a character like Jill, or even Julio in extreme cases.  I actually find Rosalie an underappreciated character, who starts off accepting the reality of team-kills, but is the most affected by Chris's betrayal.  Afterwards, she expresses surprising awareness of the "big picture."  Ah, but well... thing is I don't think the anime is that good, on a production or narrative level.  It's presentation in SRW was... okay....  A dark Super Robot Wars game in the vein of Alpha Gaiden the first "Z" title, or even "Advance" would probably be best to use the premise and characters to best effect.

Ange in SRW V is actually rather reasonable once she overcomes the initial shock and (understandable) rage in Arzenal.  We don't see her life beforehand (so no rant), and she doesn't get the same high from battle.  Like the EVA anime and manga counterparts, it's enough to make her a  different character, despite the same actions for the most part.  And then there's Ange from Academy of Angels and Dragons, who is just adorable!

Unfortunately, I'm not famility with Nanoha, despite it looking really interesting.  I don't know if there are any streaming sites, and I don't know if investing in DVDs is worth it.

That's exactly what I was going for, and I have several characters based on Ange that they are considered clones like Char had. Except she's put in positions or settings that make her a complex villain and do not favor her actions. Granted, her methods worked in her original series because every enemy was either a weak-willed coward who highly about themselves because of their ability to use magic or an obsessive manic with a god-complex. But what about series who were everyone is saner than that? One show is a magical girl story, where magic is put in a better light because it gives power those who are helpless otherwise. Another is a darker take on shows like Infinite Stratos that breaks down the original Cross Ange ending, which starts with her clone and her gang resting on a remote island caused global destruction, but end up upsetting people who they shouldn't have and see them as nothing more than petty terrorists.

The fic involving Nanoha was first based on how the main characters of that series (Nanoha and Fate) were voiced by Nana and Yukari, who voice Ange and Hilda. After SRW V, I got to incorporating FMP as well.
That story deviates Ange as she's taken into the Nanoha's Time-Space Administration Bureau instead of Arzenal. Now she's on another planet, forced to integrate into a new magic-based society that has different values and magic system than on Mana. Some deviations include accepting her status as a Norma and keeping her original name, Angelise Ikaruga Misurugi. Though a problem that'll be later resolved is that despite accepting herself as a Norma, her upbringing and speculation convinces her to not be a monster or, for example, like Hilda and her gang.

Here's my reply in the meantime.

Character "clones" huh.  Like the Char archetype, Rei archetype, or Yuno archetype….  (All of which ironically have ACTUAL clones.)  And I could totally see Ange having a duplicate in either a series spinoff or a future SRW.  Regarding her archetype though, I think it's older than you think, and has usually been used rather negatively to dismiss anger as "hysteria."  I will give Sunrise props creating a villain who embodies misogyny and making him as despicable as possible.

The funny thing is… I find Hilda more sympathetic than Ange.  There's a lot of parallels between the two characters, and she starts off as bad as Ange with more resources at disposal.  However, she seems to be more of a product of Arzenal than Ange, shows a lot more empathy (though she can also be manipulative), and has more character development.  Just my opinion though, and she certainly could become a major antagonist.

We get to see how Arzenal strips its inmates of humanity most overtly with Salia and Chris.  Salia is particularly disturbing, as she was willing to martyr herself for Jill, but is continued to be tossed aside until all that's left to motivate her is envy towards Ange.  Chris has unacknowledged empathy issues that have produced a truly damaged adult.

That's where I was going for. Imagine her falling to series where her methods didn't work and only caused more trouble than its worth. At the same time, I'd have opposite counterparts who think opposite of her, who can defeat someone like her.

It should also be noted that Jill played a hand in stripping people of their humanity. She could've done more to make them stronger, but she was consumed by power and her revenge against Embryo.

For those who grew up with the SNES, this sprite-work looks like an authentic ending screen, and the image is bittersweet and heartwarming.

Oh jeez.   Thank you very much for your kind comments! I had a lot of wonderful resources to draw from. It makes me happy beyond reason that someone can imagine this as an actual end screen.
