# About me

My artwork deals with the issue of domestic violence and child abuse. This is not a very popular topic but as a survivor it is something that is very close to my heart. These dolls that I have created represent individuals who have been though the horrors of being abused. They are an inner child who has been hurt, crying out for love and yet feeling so broken. My intention is for the viewer want to hold these β€˜children’, to comfort them. The nameless, faceless, individuals who no matter how broken they may seem still have a small flicker of hope. These dolls could be anyone, and yet still have their own personalities. Through my art this semester I did not just explore a media, I explored some of the darkest recesses of my past and looked at how it has affected my life. I am a survivor of sexual assault, verbal, physical and emotional abuse. This is a fact that I can never escape from; while the events of my past are dark they have made me who I am today.
