Hi! I'm Vincent and this is my Artist statement below!

My work displays images of fantasy, macabre, and whimsy. I have a fascination with the human body from the folds of the skin to the twists and turns of the joints, which tends to show in my work. Inspiration for my work goes back as early as my childhood where I was exposed to Japanese animation and then later on to contemporary artists as well as art from the Renaissance and Baroque. My paintings are a work of spontaneous inspiration, as I don’t plan them out before I begin. There could be layers and layers of paint beneath the surface with multiple ideas that never got to be. In the end, the complete version is something I will have only envisioned before completion. Acrylics and graphite pencils are my main tools for creativity as they are forgiving towards my mistakes. Although acrylic and graphite are my preferred choice, I am exploring new mediums and pushing my imagination from the 2D realm to the 3D, so be ready for that in the future.
