This was for a research gig I did with a professor at my university. It was really interesting. Even though this topic wasn't my area of assigned research, I still got to read interesting things. So, this referrs to international marriages within the country of Korea. According to research and marriage census, women in Korea are significantly less likely to marry in general. This has to do with grinding gender dynamics (traditional values vs. modern feminist perspective or rather, "Get in the kitchen" vs. "Ah hell no, I'm going to get an education and a career!"). So because of this, Korean men are having to look to other countries for brides, either by 'mail-order' or taking advantage of foreign professionals within the country (women working in Korea but are not from Korea or ethnically Korean).
