do you think that it is necessary to own an expensive lens to catch these little details like the stars or the reflection of the lights in the snow, in my country it is nearly impossible to shot the night without light pollution, I'd like to try in a pitch black night what I could do with my basic lenses...

No, I don't think you need a very expensive lens, just give yours a try. Expensive lenses are sharper for sure but even basic lenses can catch those details
