This might seem outta the blue but is "Umi Ryuuzaki" a reference to a manga/anime from the 90s? I recently found a page with all the shows I used to watch as a kid and Magic Knight Rayearth came up.

My first impression of her wasn't very good cuz she's definitely not an underdog haha not to mention she wants to take every opportunity to go back to Tokyo. But I'm quite early in the anime so I'll see how she develops.
