thats small lol but how large would the trucks be? I wanted a suv type that the mother and daughter are standing next to holding off a hoard of zombies
after a soccer game . the mother and daughter both with red hair . The girl would need to be around 6 yrs old with red pigtails . this is my wife and daughter

its not that small, 1/35 is a decent size when you see it. the thing is a cant make everything from scratch. any bigger scale and their isn't too many kits,figurines,accessories. any smaller scale(i.e 1/72) would be too small for me to custom make stuff.
Sounds like a pretty killer scene and i can totally see it but all thats gonna be expensive. lol i dont mean any offense but i kinda gotta know about your budget before i really plan anything. i use this site(cheapest and best IMO) you can look around at different sets and elements and see how it starts adding up, not including paint. and thats not not taking into account my time. a 1/35 tank takes me around 35+ hours, and custom figurines can take me around 10+ hours each. i have never done a big commission before and i certainly would not be asking to be paid by the hour(i love making stuff) but i would like some sort of compensation for my time.
Here is a Zombie diorama i did about a year ago [link] this project cost about $100-120 us.
anther idea you could look into is making it yourself. its tons of fun, and you would probable be even more proud of it, if you made it.

a sign like something you would see at a soccer field or a small snack bar with zombies going after a worker lol . but the mom and the girl if done right bro would be EPIC cool .I agree you should not work for free man you got mad skills .i have a son who is 3 maybe we could sneak him in there to maybe even me the whole family lol What do you think ? I can send you a pic of us for inspiration if you need? Totally 100 pct in if you can do it . Do they make Trucks that size like

lol good to know, sorry about that. i have got more than a few dreamer kids that have wanted me to build crazy scenes. but of course for like ten bucks.
anyways i might be able to do this but first off i am not a pro by any means, and this would be my first diorama commission, so i am new at this. anyways i am quite tired tonight(so mind my spelling and grammar) but here is what i have found and am thinking about for this project so far:
Signs,details,base,ect: i can make a ton of different signs, and if the right size, i could make a specific one(I.E real world location) if i had the right photo to print. soccer ball, and other easy random details i could sculpt on my own.
for a base ill be using a nice peice of pine(which i have a ton of, so dont worry about price, ill trow it in for free. anyways its nice hardwood thats light weight) i can stain/paint the wood pretty much any color you wish.
i found a park kit that might look cool [link] painted a little different it might look the part. if not i could most likely make something on my own but might want this [link] has some neat stuff that would just be a pain for me to make.
People: this is a tricky one because of the woman and kids, but i found several sets that might work [link] [link] [link] of course i would need one of the woman sets and could mod/custom the figure as needed. kids are hard to find, but that last set does have a little boy that could work (as well as a zombie fodder old man). as for guns and clips, i have a ton of them on hand. pretty sure i have a M-60 and some nice modern rifles kicking around.
Zombies: this one really depends, dont know how many you were thinking and it can be hard to tell how many this early in the planing. i do have quite a few WW2 Germans that i might be able to mod a bit(so they dont look so German) but it might be helpful to get this [link] just so the faces have some detail. i might need to do some tests and such to see how they look, problem is i cant find a single modern civilian set.
RIDE: this one is really tricky because they do not make an SUV like the explorer anywhere near that scale(would look very very off) but i have found a couple that might if painted in non-military colors, might be ok. [link] [link] that truck comes with tons of stuff as well as a bonus.
all this adds up somewhere between $70-100 depending on options ect(plus i am tired lol) but i would lean more towards the $100 side just because of extra paint, and extra Materials that i might need. anyways tell me what you think and we can brainstorm some more and refine it a bit. the key to dioramas is planing.

ohhh and one last thing, i have thought about shipping. the only way can think to ship it is in pieces. i.e ill do all the assembly,painting and such but not glue down the figurines,truck, or other breakable details. i would still ship in one box but you would have to place and glue stuff. i was just thinking that if i added all that up it would be very very easy to break in the mail but individual warped it should survive.

I need a little girl and that one she is holding her arm up you could make it like she was passing mom a magazine. If not they could just be standing by her side .
The m-60 is cool but maybe like a kick ass m-4 something more compact. If its 100 its not a problem even if its a little more if we go all out on it . The shipping is another good idea . The base is ok but we would have to mess around with it .
The sign is great we could put the name of our town etc on it!
As long as the women and child etc don't look like they are from ww2 making them look more modern. those hats are hideous maybe nothing would be better to see the hair color thats key . We need to find a women in pants or shorts not a long dress. The little boy looks cool ! we could even write a modern make on his t-shirt .
I may add myself in the scene make it a family rendition! Even if it comes to 150 its fine but I want it to be a showstopper
That pickup does have a cool cooler and other neat stuff. Your right though colors will make it more modern . Zombies at least 3 -5. One zombie when you have an assault weapon is not very scary lol . Natzi zombies are cool so i maybe ok with that . So If we can find a guy short black hair no facial hair even a baseball cap would be killer on reverse
Lets just go with the flow see where we end up price wise its a one shot deal and i don't care to much about going over budget to make this something we can show our friends and family bro. I am really fired up to much caffeine today .

yea i can totally see the little girl with a clip and i think i do have some M4's in my bits box. yea the base was just an idea, i might be able to find a different one, if not i can make from scratch.
yea thats the problem, most stuff is geared towards WW2. but that one kit(with the little girl) looks like its got a pretty decent head without a hat and i could do a lower body swap(or cut one in half and add different legs with pants) heck i even have some per-made base ball caps, and even think i could sculpt them. lol gotta have the red-socks dude, ill have to practice and it wouldn't be perfect but i might be able to do that(no promises tho lol)
i have about 15 some odd German troops on hand, and with some epoxy and some cutting i might be able to make them not look like WW2 troops. yea that truck is pretty sweet and has some really cool stuff with it thats hard to find(water bottles, cooler)
yea they do make cases, tho i dont know a ton about them. if you want tomorrow i could research them, find out the dimensions and make it so the diorama would fit in one(dusting is a bitch let me tell ya)
LOL cool dude, getting me pretty excited as well. my schedule is kinda wide open soon here. i am finishing up a model in the next few days, got a request to do(about 3 days) then i might have a small commission( few 1/35 troops,bout 3-4 days) then my schedule is wide open. anyways i am pretty tired tonight, but keep on brainstorming and ill respond tomorrow. definitely want to take our time with the planning and order. but once i have the stuff the project would take around 2 weeks.

i have been thinking about this project, and have a few ideas. anyways because i am not a pro and cant promise anything this is what i think we could do.
ill buy a set of the woman and see what i can do with the zombies. because i am unsure about how the woman/zombies will look and i dont want you dumping a bunch of money if things are not going to work.
anyways ill do some updates as i work on the project and if you like how everything is turning out, then we can figure out cash and getting the rest of the stuff that is need for the build.
anyways ill be making a model order at the beginning of march and ill pick up the woman set with the girl, once i get them ill start working on your project.
think this is the fairest way i can do it. i really dont want to promise anything and i am very far from a pro, that way if you dont like how the wife figurine turns out you are out nothing and i dont feel like a jerk. plus it will give you time to think about any additional details.
when i start work on the wife i can allso start work on some of the hand crated details i.e signs,soccer ball, zombie outbreak sings and anything else you can think of.
anyways tell me what you think.
