i should have fooled about the the f-stop...but was a bit distracted at the time i took the shot...slower shutter speed though would have definitely brought a bit more colour and light to the shot...

Hey Brian. You were asking about crits.. Well, here is one thing that I have noticed in your work, and I think a lot of people struggle with this issue: (First, I think your techniques are pretty solid, and not being a photographer, I cant really say much about that anyway), I believe in visual communications, CONTENT is KING. There are pros out there that i know who aren't very 'good' technically, but they can think conceptual cirlces around most 'technical' artists. And that is where you draw people in. Its what you are saying (or not saying) with your images. I see a lot of your works as just 'snap shots'. Meaning there isn't anything that really pulls me in by the throat and makes me deal with what you have captured. I was looking at your photo of the spider and it was a pretty good spider photo, but it was just a spider. I mean, I have seen something like that on the Discovery channel. Part of the problem with our world is that we are SOOO saturated with images you have to do something very different or a unique way of seeing a spider. I think this is much harder to do in photography because you are having to interpret what is really in front of you at a moment, but i see a lot of painters/drawers that have the content trouble as well.
Anyway, that was my two cents. take em or leave em.

No special settings! I use a Kodak DC 3400 Digital camera, no filters except occationally shooting through my sunglasses when aiming at a very bright skysetting. Good content and a decent camera can have very nice results! Thanks....
