I try to shoot wide open all the time. If it's not wide open it's because it's a portrait or I bumped the dial.

Because the site it's published on is college publisher network so it's basically a template. I've been wanting to do some audio slides for the paper and build nice galleries, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

thanks for your comment. I used the ef 200mm 1,8 L usm and the efF 1,4 converter. at wide open (f.2,5) the dept of field would be not wide enough. between 3.2 and 4.0 itΒ΄s wide enough, so that for example both players at a tackle are in focus.

I often shoot the 200 f/1.8 with the TC for soccer, cycling and track & field between 2.8 and 4.0 and sometimes I also shoot it for indoor sports or in the evenings wide open at 2.5 with ISO 1600. At 2.5 itΒ΄s not so good, but for newspapers itΒ΄s ok.
Before I had the 300 f/4.0 that was very sharp at 4.0 but not useful for indoor sports or available light situations..

I thoroughly enjoyed browsing your gallery in my spare minutes. I found it interesting that you balanced landscape photography and sports photography in such a manner that both were prevalent but that neither detracted from another. Your blending of styles between the two is an interesting act and one which is difficult to follow but produces generally pleasing images. A few of your sports photographs were particularly moving, namely the wrestling one which captured a sense of isolation in a struggle ignored by the external world. Keep up the good work, cheers.
