You, me and anyone else in the world that has a shred of common sense. My store's shelves were still empty as of last night. But I'm not terribly worried about this. Yes it's a serious thing and I deeply sorry for all those already affected by it and those who will be affected. But seriously, what does a person need with 500 rolls of toilet paper? Are they expecting half the population to come down with explosive diarrhea because of this?
And you're absolutely right that the media is not helping matters at all. But that's what they do. Instead of actually helping the public, they're more interested in two things... number one, generating ratings and number two, bashing the President. Whether you love him or hate him, that's all the media is interested in. Otherwise they would not still be trumpeting already debunked talking points and they would be A HELL OF A LOT MORE CONCERNED about the basic flu which has already infected about 40,000,000 people this flu season in the US and killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 20,000.
But let's go one step better. There are 340,000,000 people approximately in the US and we have right now about what... 4,000 maybe 5,000 cases of Coronavirus in this country. And there have been what... about 70 eaths in this country? And two-thirds of those are in Washington state. Yeah it sucks if that's where you live, but that's a hell of a difference from 20,000 flu related deaths. There are 7 confirmed Corona cases in the county where I live right now. I don't know how many flu cases there are in this county so far this flu season but I can promise you it's more than 7. My wife, my oldest daughter and I are among the flu cases.
And how many people are there in the world? Over 6 billion. How many Corona cases are there around the world right now? About 175,000 when I last heard, which was last night. And how many deaths around the world? About 6,500. It's serious but we're not facing the plague here.
People need to get a grip.

You're welcome. Also keep in mind that of those 175,000 cases of reported Corona all over the world, approximately 80,000 of them HAVE ALREADY RECOVERED!!! Did the numbnuts in the mainstream media miss this? Of course they did. They're all-in for the "end of days" syndrome. During my lunch break today I went to the grocery store to get some beef and potatoes (challenging, but not impossible right now). The paper products are still gone and people are still going nuts. Cases in point... I saw one guy that had about 20 bottles of vegetable oil in his cart, a lady with 5 cases of ketchup bottles and at least a dozen people wearing face masks.
You watch. Here's what I think is going to happen over the next month regarding these hoarders. I may be wrong but I foresee that in a week or so when the store shelves have been restocked, there's going to be a second run on the stores for those who missed the first run and are still panicked. A few of the first wavers might even come back for "round 2" so to speak. Then two or three weeks after that, cooler heads will finally prevail and the stores will start running as normal again. And all the idiots who each have 1,000 rolls of toilet paper, 500 rolls of paper towels, 2,000 pounds of various disinfectants, 600 gallons of anti-bacterial soap and more food than they can eat in two years will look at all the crap they bought, then look at their cobweb infested bank account and wonder, "What the hell was all that for?"
And I'll just stand there, shake my head and say, "Y'all are stupid."

Thanks. I picked up two old Athearn Special Edition sets this past Friday. A trio of Burlington Route 40' boxcars colored gold with black lettering (CB&Q actually had 8 like that in real life) and a trio of Union Pacific Bay Window cabooses.

Found the Walthers T&NO Caboose SKU Numbers...which help me out greatly but also at the same time dont considering nothing is showing up.

Also confirms that the "Broken" one on eBay is indeed the Walthers model that has been weathered but is used. I might as well try again on convincing my mom on this one considering the bid price is very low and no one put an offer yet. That, and I still have at least 6 days (as of this comment) to make a move.

Hey, 'tis me again! First of all, hope you had a Merry Christmas!
I come seeking an extra pair of eyes. I am on the hunt for an HO-Scale caboose and I was wondering if you could give me a hand in finding it. My options are now running limited since my local Hobbytown USA Closed Down, and eBay as well as Amazon are not giving me any results. BrassTrains is outta the option for both price AND availability of what I seek.
While I may not have the SKUs perfectly down, I do know that it is a Walthers product, and models the SP-Style C-30-1 Wood Caboose. I am looking for one in T&NO Markings, not SP or Southern Pacific. Road number, don't give a damn about. As long as it says T&NO.

Gotcha. I'll keep my eyes peeled. There's a train show here in Houston coming up on Valentine's Day of all days. If I don't find one before then, I'll look around at the show. Question... what is your price? I ask because if I find one at the show I'll have to get it for you right then and there because the show is a one day affair.

Tbh I have no idea. I've seen the two-packs sell for 60$ and the singles sell for 40$ on Ebay. But, that's what Ebay sold them for. I have no idea what the original MSRPS were. I guess for now I'll set aside a good 60-80 for the caboose, be it a single or two pack.
EDIT: That is of course before another example actually pops up on eBay that I can snag for myself. I can say that one example popped up on Ebay about two days ago but when I showed "upper management" it was vetoed for good because some parts are broken as well as it having no box. That, and it ends in 5 days and is a bid item, not buy it now
