Believe it or not: That's exactly how I feel a lot of time lately so the tagline fits.
Would love to go back to Australia for another trip some day. Preferably on my own account instead of taking a guided tour, perhaps take the Oodnadatta track this time and do some bush camping.
When you come to Germany, drop me a note beforehand.

Don't come this time of year. It is over 40 most days and most of this week is 43 degrees C. Hot, hot, hot! Where in Germany are you (if you don't mind me asking)?

Last time, I went to Australia in october. We had quite nice weather most of the time. Only in Adelaide we had some rain.
I'm currently living at the northern edge of the black forest.

No worries!
(I've always wanted to say that )

I really like your nature photos. Last year I had the great opportunity to visit your beautiful country (alas only for three weeks, much too short a time) and I loved it. I'd really like to travel Down Under again some day, until then I will while away the time by looking at great photos of Australia like yours.

It's great expression

3 weeks definitely isn't enough. I've lived here all my life and still have been able to see everything that I would like to see

what places did you see here last year?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

duncan-blues In reply to FireflyPhotosAust [2009-11-24 20:56:47 +0000 UTC]

We did a cross-country tour called "Natural Wonders". We flew in to Alice Springs, then visited the Kings Canyon, did the mandatory visit to Uluru (including a hike all around) and the Olgas, then moved on to Coober Pedy, Port Augusta, Flinders Ranges (2 days), Adelaide (2 days), Kangaroo Island (2 days), Grampians (2 days), Great Ocean Road and finally two days in Melbourne and two days in Sydney.

We've seen a lot but the schedule was very densely packed. We made several long hiking trips (especially the hiking trips in the Flinders Ranges and the Grampians were awesome) but I had wished for a little more time and less hurrying in many parts of the tour. To fully savour the beauty of the country, one would have to aim for half the distance in twice the amount of time I guess.

That was some trip!!!

You have visited places that I haven't including the Great Ocean Road, Kangaroo Island and the Grampians

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

duncan-blues In reply to FireflyPhotosAust [2009-11-25 17:56:09 +0000 UTC]

The Great Ocean Road is beautiful but swarming with tourists. Especially the observation platforms for the 12 apostles are a nightmare! What a shame.
Most tourists leave out most or all of the other great views along the road like the London Arch, Grotto or Loch Ard Gorge.
Kangaroo Island is a true gem. One could spend a whole week vacation time just there and not have a moment of boredom. The Grampians are great too but also lots of tourists.
A friend of mine made an adventure trip through Australia back in 1997, travelling by 4x4 from Darwin to Adelaide including the Oodnadatta track. His tour (and even moreso at that time) was quite more adventurous than mine. He got me infected with the "Aussie virus", he is a true aussie-maniac his apartment is one big Australia shrine and he's even got his own Australia webpage including gallery and forum.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

FireflyPhotosAust In reply to duncan-blues [2009-11-25 19:12:27 +0000 UTC]

That can be a problem at tourist locations - I tend to try and get to places at dawn before most tourists are up

Your friend's trip sounds great too and he certainly seems keen on Australia
