Thanks for the favs and watch. I didn't attend the workshop though I know someone who did attend. I've met a few of the guys (Robin Eley and Simon Scales) who were lecturing through various illustration meetings. I've only been to a handful of those though.

How did you find the workshop?

Youre most welcome, I'm just excited that theres so much talent here.

Yeah Simon and Robin were good, but not the highlight. Kevin Chen and Carlo were really through about industry standard and design principles in games and film. They're doing another course next year in syd. I'd highly reccommend it, but you're already in the industry so just keep doing what your doing.

We've started up a artist sketchgroup where we'll critique and lifedraw and things like that, if youre interested.

While I wouldn't consider that I'm 'in' the industry, I am currently working to beef up a portfolio so that I can take a bigger part in my own career path.

The event itself sounds very inspirational and I hope you were able to get a great deal out of it. Not sure how easily I will be able to make it over to Sydney for the one next year but we shall see.

What's involved in the artist sketchgroup? Any excuse to become more passionate about art and design is a good thing I think.

Muro sux a bit - it is laggy and unless you spend some cash on it it hasn't the features of Photoshop BUT (big butt ha ha) if you find those limitations a 'glove in the face' challenge then you are in for fun. So far I have not produced anything as nice as the Harmony drawings I posted but I think that is because my time is super valuable now so not so much play time.
My baby has rapidly become a very little girl this year. She will be two next month and is a little jet. I'm very happy to know her although she can be super cheeky and wilful at times. She is at the age where she will throw her little arms around your neck and plant a big kiss on you - alternately she may smack you in the eye and laugh at you. She can sing in tune, can hold small conversations, knows way too many characters from the TV and loves to paint, draw and do playdoh. She still eats crayons, pencils, paint and playdoh and when she can get it bum cream (at nappy change). Still, life is full of wonder and delight.
Also, this year I am my own business - freelancing! I'm now Jo Spargo Graphic Design and Illustration.

Not bad thanks Been a long time! You must have just celebrated a birthday as I remember our birthdays being close. I'm doing a media course at tafe, nothing too fancy of course, but still interested in art. What about you? I imagine you're doing well?

All was fairly awesome. I did lose my job at Christmas after 4 years loyal service - a new door opens I guess. I still think it was worth having Sakura - screw my career (which is exactly what happened). That sounds more bitter than I feel, I'm actually quite excited about 2011. What have you got planned for this young new year?

yeah I made a game in flash and I collaged those background scenes for it out of old children's books. Let me know if you're interested, I can send you a copy...

I'm just teaching myself to cartoon now so I can make a more flexible game with vector graphics.
I want to make a cross between a 2d platformer and an adventure game. Like super mario 3 meets monkey island 2 - but kind of surreal and poetic too..
Let us know when you have some new work up...I have a children's story that is waiting to be illustrated
