Yeah. Pretty Hate Machine was an ***Amazing*** album.
It kindof remindes me of London After Midnight but with a
very unique twist.

I definately admire your respect for Trents older stuff.
Most people who hear about NIN automaticaly think of the
Closer video or Starfuckers or something like that and although
I did like Closer and the Vid, I really didn't like Starfuckers or his
video with Manson. I'm not to crazy about Manson.

Anyways I actually was doing music for my friends indie movies at
one time. Then he decided to use local bands instead so I said fuck it. lol.

I would definately be interested in writing game music. I've always had an
interest in game soundtracks. Some of my favorites are the Mechwarrier 2 stuff
and the Ecco soundtracks(genesis and pc versions) and many more.

Thanks for the info on copyrights. I feel very relieved now. I'll check up on the
newest stuff to make sure.

-As soon as I get this song i'm working on done i'll post that website. Know any good
(free) web space providers? Cuz i'm broke.

Indeed.. it was a phenomenal piece. Pure and driven.. beginning to end. I bought it the day it released.. I can remember waiting for months for it to be finished. Little did I know those Reznor waiting times would later become years. lol.

I know what you mean. Most current Nails listeners.. discovered him when he became the trendy cd to own. As the hybrid of industrial and metal pushed its way to the surface of pop culture.. the mainstream acts like NIN and Manson became staples in every teenager's collection.

Ah.. don't get me wrong. I don't mind Manson at all either. All though.. as with Reznor.. I started listening to them in their earlier days. I saw them tour supporting the Portrait album.. and back then they were hungry. And there music showed it. It wasn't until the later albums when Manson stopped ripping off other artists.. and began ripping off his own work with every release. But shit happens. He's a great performance artist.. if nothing else.

It's too bad that your friend switched over to local bands. While it's smart to supplement one's soundtrack with some vocal tracks.. the instrumental scores are the ones that make the impact during a scene. They're the ones that make you jump in fear.. or cheer a character on.

There are some wonderful scores being done for video games. You're right.. that old Ecco score was beautiful. But there are really so many powerful themes in games anymore. The scores are selling themselves. Additionally.. a great deal of anime uses instrumental scores.. so that's another direction you could look into.

No problem for the information. As I said.. it's always good to check up on things when you're ready to use them.. changes are frequent.

As for free providers that are good.. I'm really not certain. The features and benefits of such hosts seem to change quite often as well. I'd post in the forums asking the other DA members.

Yup. Still waiting for \"With Teeth\" to come out. *sigh* I believe his last full album came out
in 1999. (5 YEARS AGO!!) Oh well. At least he takes his time.

Ah yes. The anime soundtracks. I didn\'t even think about that one. Cowboy Bebop had some
interesting music. Jazz I believe. It\'s good for relaxing and walking down Beale St. and a few other
things. I heard Ghost In the Shell has some really good music but I haven\'t seen it yet.

I\'ve been learning piano recently. It\'s a beautiful instrument. Lots of possibilities.
My sister plays violin and she just let me have an old metronome she\'s never used
(now I know why she can\'t keep a beat) so that\'s a handy piece of equipment to have.
You\'ve worked around various musicians
before. Have you ever picked up any instruments.

Well.. it's always tough keeping Trent in the studio. He gets bored easily.. and generally has several other projects going on at the same time. So he does a little.. then does something else for awhile. lol.

The anime soundtracks are just stunning sometimes.. and yes.. Ghost In The Shell is beautiful. I highly recommend checking that out as an option. There's a great deal of demand for classical.. and ethereal instrumental work.. as well as more dance oriented sounds. It's quite a versatile market actually.

Yes.. you're right. Piano is a beautiful instrument. It's range is quite wide as far as various musical styles as well. It's too bad that she has trouble with keeping time.. though the metronome comment was funny. lol. Piano and violin.. with some percussion can truly rule the musical genre of your choice.

Yes.. I play. I used to play by ear as a child.. but I ended up taking 8 or 9 years of music theory as well. Although my first love is saxophone.. for those bluesy, emotionally wrenching pieces.. I can play pretty much any instrument. I have a guitar, bass, and performance range keyboard in the house at all times. I love to play drums.. but I've never bothered to pick up a set. Eventually I suppose I will.

Ah yes, the saxophone. Now thats one sexy sounding instrument. Very awesome.
Thats really cool that you can play so many instruments. I also have a guitar, bass, and keyboard. (My keyboard kinda sucks though. Mainly because it isn't touch sensitive so all the notes are hit at the same velocity.)

I was playing bass for a few bands around town. One was an acoustic indie band and the other was all hardcore screamo and stuff. I eventually quite the acoustic band and left the hardcore band for lack of creative control and tolerance for other people. I've got a shity amp as well. So noone could really here me when I played with the hardcore kids anyway.

I've always wanted to learn how to play drums, but I don't think I would be able to keep a fluid beat for more than half a second. Right now I'm just using sampled kicks, snares, etc...
Hope you get that dream drumset someday.

Thank you.. sorry it took me so long to reply.. I've been away. I love the sound of the sax too.. especially tenor.. so deep and throaty. My keyboard is getting old.. it's midi compatible and performance ready.. but there's a more progressive version with better drum pads.. that I'd like to pick up.

From the bands you were involved with.. you sound pretty versatile. I can understand about the lack of creative control though.. and especially about the tolerance. I lack much of the latter myself. lol.

It's amazing how many professional drummers can't keep a steady beat. It's tough to find a good one. But I love to play.. there's not another instrument as exhilirating for me. And thank you.. hope you get a great amp someday!

Hey. Good to hear from you again. I've been too busy to log on myself. Just got my first full time job a few months ago. All those long hours are hell, but I need the money.

I've basically said the hell with it as far as the bands go. At least for now. My true love is the intrumental. Words just tend complicate things for me. I don't know of any successful instrumental bands but if you know of any I'd love to here their story.

Love that new pic of yours buy the way. It's very majestic and beautiful. I'd say it was worth the wait.

Well I'm going to try and sleep now. Don't ever stop playin those drums. That stuff will keep you in shape.

I understand.. life seems to get away from us sometimes. I'm glad to hear you picked up a full time job.. since you needed it. I wish the hours could be better for you though.

It's too bad about the bands.. but I know what you mean. I know there have been plenty of artists on labels who have done intrumental only music for ages. In the jazz, new age, industrial, techno, and even just rock genres.. there have always been some. I just can't really recall the names.. as they're so rare. I just don't want that to get you down. You can do anything you want.. if you want it badly enough. Even if you wanted to do something that had never been done before.. you could. I'll try to peruse my collection.. and see who I can find to tell you about.

Thank you for the comments about the new submission. Hope you got some rest. Take care..
