What's sad is all the programs work on one of my computers while the other, faster computer can't handle them because it's a mac.

Not really, it's just popular opinion. An executive decision wasn't even near necessary in this case.

For someone who is new in 3d graphics, you do quite well.
Yes, I use 3ds max. I've used 3ds max 4 for about 2-3 years and now I'm switched to 3ds max 6 (a must for awesome graphics).
I guess 3ds max does look a bit complicated, but you'd be surprised how easy to use it is. Plus it's the most powerful (in my belief) 3d package there is out there.
There are lots of 3ds max tuts out there, way more than I can say here(just try google) but some of the better ones are 3dcafe and max3d>/a>.
I also recommend 3ds max's creators own site: Discreet.com . They also have tutorials there.
The best tutorials by far are 3ds max's own tutorials, which cover every single nook and cranny of the Max world. Highly recommended.
One feature that 3ds max versions 5 and up have is advanced lighting, which greatly enhances the realism of the graphics. Also highly recommended.
All in all, the power of 3ds max greatly exceeds anything else I've seen on the 3d market. The only thing that comes close to it is Lightwave, But it is far behind.

Yeah...my stuff isnt that realistic, but I'm not going for that right now. Also, dont you use 3ds Max? Because I am using Bryce...

Nice work, gorath.
Your stuff is really great. Rock on, man!
However a little more realisticness in the renderings wouldn't hurt. If you want any tips concerning realism, just drop me a note, man.
Some of my works that I consider realistic:
